The Ultimate Bored in Class Project

Published by at 1:00 pm under Images,Video Games

Ever get so bored in class or at work that you spend hours perfectly recreating a scene from Pokemon in Excel? I haven’t yet, but this guy has, and as you can see, has rendered a Pokebattle perfectly with Excel itself as the victim. Or is it Xcel? I haven’t used that thing since college.

I always wondered how people did Pixel are like this. Is there some sort of website that has all of these old school games laid out on a grid or something that allows you to make them out of beads or knit them or create them in spreadsheets?

I’ve done some pixel art in Minecraft and in legos before and I’ve found that the easiest way is just to find a sprite sheet, a direct rip from the game, and use that. If you open the picture up in photoshop or the like you should be able to add grids so that the pixels are extremely clear. The only way I could have seen him making this is by sitting there with a sprite open and the sampler tool. That would have taken forever.

Props to the guy who did this.
