That Guy Actor of the Week: George Newbern

Published by at 9:01 am under Columns

I feel like through the 80s and 90s George Newbern was a very recognizable face.  I mean you never knew the guy’s name (hence why he’s up here) but you could be pretty sure that you recognized him.  Plus the name itself kind of sounds like an old man doesn’t it?

Anyway, Newbern’s been around for a long time and he always manages to find himself a part.  Whether he’s in a movie or on a TV show the guy always seems to be “around.”  He’ll never win an Oscar and probably not an Emmy but the dude will always be employed.  At least that’s what I think.

I dug Newbern in Father of the Bride, It Takes Two, and Adventures in Babysitting.  George is closing in on the 100 title mark on IMDB, so he’s got that going for him…which is nice.   A clip of Newbern after the jump…

Here’s George in a Chevron commercial when he was a kid.   Real slick George.

You forgot to mention he’s the second voice actor for DCAU Superman!

As the other guy said, you forgot to mention that he’s the voice of Superman on Justice League/Unlimited.
