A Tome of Oblivion

Published by at 11:00 am under Images,Video Games

As much as I like it when studios like Bethesda or Bioware try to expand the universe of their games by including various stories and codex entries around the world you can find, I’ve always wondered who actually takes the time to write that stuff? There is a TON of material found in these games, but until now, I didn’t quite realize how much there really was.

Some intrepid gamer went through and somehow printed out every book in Oblivion, and put them all in a leatherbound tome that you can see above. I’m bad at estimating page length, but I would put it at over 1,000, unless those pages are crazy thick. There are more pictures of the book below which you should definitely check out. But seriously, my question still stands. You’re making an epic game like Oblivion and you guys find the time to crank out a 1,000 page book for the fun of it?

Alright, so who is going to transcribe the Mass Effect codexes to my Kindle?

Some guy just did this on his own time, it cost him $130 and roughly 4 weeks worth of work. Last I heard he was trying to get a hold of Bethesda to see if they wanted a copy, hopefully they don’t turn around and sue him for it.

Answering your question, most of the books in oblivion are just updated versions of books that appered in previous elder scrolls games, the majority of the lore was probably written for daggerfall.

That is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen, much to my girlfriend’s chagrin. I want one for Christmas!
