Crappy Must See Movie of the Week: Robot Jox
I debated putting this movie up and classifying it as a crappy movie but if you see Robot Jox today you’ll definitely think that. You see, to the 30 and over crowd who are into robot movies and sci-fi stuff many of them will argue that Robot Jox may have been a pioneer for these types of films. Films like Transformers or even Avatar that have mechanical wonders.
To the newbies out there, you probably haven’t even heard of this flick. So for you people, here’s a quick synopsis.
It is post-World War III and War is outlawed. In its place are matches between large Robots called Robot Jox. These matches take place between two large superpowers over disputed territories. The main character Achilles is a pilot in one of the large Robots. The plot revolves around him and a match for the state of Alaska.
What ensues are these “epic” robot battles that take place on Earth and even space. The reason the movie is deemed crappy is because the acting is horrendous and the actual quality of the movie isn’t too great.
However, if you like robot movies this is kind of a must see and I guarantee you’ll laugh at how bad it is. To this day I still can’t believe it was made in 1990 and not the early 80s. Anyway, the trailer is after the jump. Give it whirl…..

I’m so glad you found this. I use to watch this as a kid on VHS cause I loved the giant robots(too young to care about acting). I use to rack my brain trying to think of the name so I could watch it again. In the many years since I’ve seen this I’ve ben comforted by the full range of Gundam series that are out there. This movie is similar to the Mobile Fighter G Gundam series. Now I have to find it on nextflix to relive some old memories.

I rember this movie from when I was a kid but could never remeber the name of it. I loved any robot scifi stuff as a kid and I still do! I think ill need to try and get hold of this again.
