Performance of the Year?
I almost forgot about The Emmys’ existence, but now that there’s a show on the air that I’m legitimately passionate about, I want Game of Thrones to win ALL OF THEM.
In particular, Best Supporting Actor in a Drama should clearly go to Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister as this subtlety worded promotional image dictates. I’ve said far and away that he’s the best actor, and subsequently character, on the show, and it has little to do (no pun intended) with his height. Tyrion is charming, hilarious and droll, and a perfect illustration of why you sink all your stat points into charisma.
HBO normally sweeps these kind of events, at least they have in years past, and now that Mad Men is no longer the hot new thing, I can easily see GoT taking over and putting HBO back on the map in terms of high quality drama. Hell, I’ve had more fun with Game of Thrones so far than I have with any movie this year.

I agree. You know a character, and the actor protraying them, are amazing when they are conspicuous by their absence. In GoT, you constantly WANT to see and know what Tyrion’s up to because the character is so enaging. It be a mockery is GoT doesn’t win a ton of Emmys.
Not just an Emmy give him a golden globe an Oscar and throw a dozen super models his way.. The man has been consistently awesome in his entire career and now he is better then ever. In the age of mediocre actors he truly shines brightly. And the fact that he doesn’t respond to the classical idea of how an actor should look makes him even more impressive
Game of Thrones, the best show EVAR!!!!!!!1111!!!!ELEVEN!!!
Unless you’re a history scholar.
Or a woman.
Or a rape survivor.
Or actually have taste.
penny sautereau-fife = classic “i never actually bothered to watch this show that i’m trolling but i’ll be damned if i can’t troll it based on nothing but presumptions.”
Damn, I guess almost no one out there has taste then, Penny. Life must be rough for you, being the one with taste in a tasteless world, having to watch everyone with their excitement and enthusiasm at a series while you stew in high-taste resentment.
Never watched the show, but I’ve been a big fan of Pete’s (I call him Pete. We are tight like that) for years. He is a little person, but that is almost incidental to his actual ability as an actor… or, rather… he uses that truth in a legitimate fashion in his acting.
“Tyrion is charming, hilarious and droll, and a perfect illustration of why you sink all your stat points into charisma.” hahaha this made me laugh… Addy (King Robert) is also nominated in this category, maybe they give the Emmy to him this time (because the character will not be anymore on the show, and Addy did a real good portrayal of the king) and leave the Lannister for next year, just saying.
Let’s check your claims, Penny…
“Unless you’re a history scholar.”
Of a fictional world?
“Or a woman.”
Like the millions of Arya fangirls?
“Or a rape survivor.”
A more fair point, as the show was not explicit on how it viewed Daenarys’ relationship with Drogo, and I do know fans of the show who thought it was awesome rather than terrifying (which is itself terrifying). Of course, such forced marriages are not uncommon in our own world’s history. However, you might want to look at the most recent episode, in which Daenarys uses her power as Khaleesi to stop rape, paradoxically using the power she gained when she was raped. It’s one of the more interesting character conflicts of the show/book.
“Or actually have taste.”
I take back what I said last. You’re an idiot.
Peter Dinklage is just a fantastic actor in general. I highly recommend “The Station Agent”.
