The Final Countdown: Fallen TV Heroes, Looking Smart and Modern Warfare “Elite”

Published by under Final Countdown

Go here to see a tribute to TV’s fallen heroes.

I was trying to think of the least spoiler-ish picture I could find to put for this post, and I decided on the entire cast of BSG, as a great many of them do end up dead by the end. But which? If you don’t care about knowing who dies, check out this post to see the best dead heroes from TV.

Can’t think of a witty quip for you to follow me on Twitter.

Captain Chewbacca Sparrow at Your Service

Published by under Images,Movies

Now that the Pirates series has officially run aground in terms of uselessness, one has to wonder where the series goes from here.

Yes, they’re going to make more, as the franchise has brought in over two BILLION, but what happens when Depp doesn’t want the giant paycheck anymore?

Well, according to artist Andy Hunter they could turn to George Lucas for a brand new installment. Hell, I’d be far more excited for Kashyyyk pirates than I would be for the ones in the Caribbean any day.

Why Video Games Suck with Dara O’Briain

Published by under Video Games,Videos

One of our old favorites has returned. We featured comedian Dara O’Briain on the site here a while back as he was one of the only stand-up acts I’ve seen ever directly address video games effectively.

Here in a segment from Charlie Brooker’s Gameswipe he’s back and explaining why exactly video games suck. It’s because HE sucks. I know a lot of gamers will disagree with his logic, and most will say that video games are way too EASY today, but I see his point. It’s a very hard medium to get the uninitiated into for the reasons he explains. Some games are just too hard, and people might make fun of Nintendo putting in a mode that essentially beats the game for you, but I understand the reasoning.

As a seasoned gamer, this rarely happens with me, but many of you might remember an issue like this cropped up during my run-in with Shao Kahn in Mortal Kombat, he was an enemy that was simply too hard, and became a wall that would never let me see the end of the title I’d worked so hard for. Most of us might not “suck” as much as Dara, but I think he has a point to a certain extent.

It’s Gotta Happen Some Time Right?

Published by under Images,Movies

He might be the greatest movie villain in history, but even Darth Vader, at one point or another, had to take a dump.

Now, I’m sure he had some special hyperbaric chamber to do so, not a mere curtain as this picture form Chow Hon Lam suggests, but it’s still quite a funny concept.

It made me think of all our great movie heroes and villains at one point, needed to stop and drop the kids off at the pool. Which other character might be quite as hilarious as Vader?

Game of Thrones Review: “You Win or You Die”

Published by under Reviews,Television

I’ll say this, Game of Thrones is certainly moving ahead a lot more quickly than I thought it would. After taking a few episodes to spool up, things are quickly shifting into overdrive, with two action-packed installments in a row.

As much as I loved the last one however, I felt this latest effort was a touch predictable, and it seemed like I was able to call every moment before it happened, be it by a week’s time or a few minutes.

For example, I mused last week that the attempt on Daenyrs’s life would surely send Khal Drogo into a rage and inspire him to invade the mainland when he was previously lacking a reason. And that’s just what happened, making it seem all rather ham-handed.

You’ve Got to Be Kidding Me Community

Published by under Images,Television,Videos

That’s a wrap folks, the contest for most in-depth TV joke ever has been won by the unquestionable victor, Community. Talk about Arrested Development’s sly references all you want, but to my knowledge they never pulled anything like this.

For the uninitiated or poor of memory, the first still is from a moment on the show where Abed explains a recent epic journey that landed him on the set of Cougartown. It seemed like just a funny joke at the time until you realized that Abed ACTUALLY WAS ON COUGARTOWN, which should additionally be noted is on NBC’s rival network ABC.

The full breakdown is best watched in video forms, and both the Community and Cougartown scenes can be seen below:

A Gorgeous Gallery of Guyatt Posters

Published by under Images,Movies,Video Games

This week’s fabulously talented artist I’ve randomly decided to feature is Ron Guyatt, who has done a lot of different kinds of work, but perhaps his best is a series of posters he designed that span video games and movies.

I’ve compiled his collection below, and if any of these strike your fancy, I believe most are available for purchase here. Check them out below and see what you think.

The Best Addition to a Wall Ever

Published by under Images

Can you even imagine how badass this would be to have a metal sculpture of the Alien running down your stone wall to your apartment building?  I mean yeah I’d never do this to my own own but this is pretty awesome.

The 10 Best Non-Sports Movie Underdogs

Published by under Lists,Movies

While we’ve seen a slew of websites give their take on the best underdogs in sports movies, it was time for a new topic on the subject.  Granted the sports movie is the easiest medium to focus on an underdog that doesn’t mean they don’t exist in other movies.   After all, sports is easy.  You take a person who isn’t likely to succeed in a sport, they work hard, and there’s your story.

But there are plenty of down on their luck, crappy situation people who somehow managed to defy the odds to make a better life for themselves or at least position themselves to improve.

These 10 characters are inspirational…..
