The Average of Beauty

This is a rather cool image I came across yesterday, which teaches us a valuable life lesson: It’s good to be unique.

It takes images of sixteen different actresses, who the sane among us would agree are hot, and slowly combines all their faces together using photo manipulation technology. In level one, we see some pretty cute hybrids that make you wish two women could have a biological kid. On the next level, we’re still cute, but drifting. After that, they get a bit more non-descript, and by the end? The quintessential hot girl Frankensteined out of our finest specimens? Well, she’s actually sort of boring.

In fact, I’d say most of the time the original girls are preferable to any combination out there (expect Alba/Biel’s baby, yow!), and the moral of the story is that it’s good to be unique. Or it’s good to be hot. Probably more so that one.

Could they have found worse pictures for some of these girls?

I like Kristin Kruek and Mandy Moore’s baby. Hot damn. Maybe it’s cause they both have double initials. No, that’s a terrible theory. They’re both just uber hot.

    I’ll take the Alba-Biel combination.
Gotta say that Anne Hataway is ugly, she’s like that scary-looking flying cat from Alice in wonderland..
I would also drop Duff, Bosworth and Moore from this list, just not working out for me :)

No black actresses…. surprising. And I’d say about 8 of these broads are pretty plane Jane to ugly looking.

Looks is subjective, I’d take the final product over any one of these. Now if you say ALL of them at the same time, then heh *foregone conclusion*

The next question would be: Who has got the most average face?

    Angelina Jolie?

meh, they all aren’t that different to start with. Maybe add in some racial diversity & wome women from different time periods than today(young Elizabeth Taylor, Katherine Hepburn etc.). Then I might be interested. And some ‘photo manipilation’ that isn’t just, chick A eye, chick B nose, chick A mouth . . rinse repeat.

Personally I like the Duff-Hewitt and Duff-Hewitt-Alba-Biel combinations best.

Is it just me all do none of the top photos seem that flattering? I actually find some of the second and third tier combinations much more appealing as they seem to do away with some of the flaws presented in the original pictures.

The Jolie-Hathaway-Theron-Cuthbert Hybrid and the Fox-Belluci-Portman-Johansson Hybrid are my picks.

Also, am I the only one who thinks Elizabeth Mitchell aka Juliet (Lost)/Erica (V) and Christina Hendricks aka Joan (Mad Men), are much better looking than any of these still quite considerably beautiful ladies?

If only they could make a hybrid of them…

*drools…and then has to sit down and lean forwards*

Gonna agree with Pep. Needs more non-white women.

Let’s do this with ugly guy actors. Steve Buscemi and Seth Rogen mixed!

    I want to marry the Duff-Hewitt-Alba-Biel one(L)

    Wow, so beauty = white?

@B.W, @Pep: The whole idea is to do this with actresses which all share similar ethnic features. As soon as you start mixing in other ethnicities, the features are too different for the result to show what we want it to – averageness.
It is completely plausible to do this experiment with lots of hot black women (and there are enough to do this), but mixing them would ruin the point of this experiment.
