The Final Countdown: Movie Development Hell, Comics About the Issues, and Amber Heard

Published by Paul Tassi under Final Countdown

Go here to see movies stuck in development hell.

Sometimes it doesn’t matter if you have a great idea for a movie. Red tape can cause your film to be lost forever, and these films might never see the light of day.

Unreality’s Facebook page would rather see a Starcraft movie.

No Star Wars Collection Would Be Complete Without It

Published by Paul Tassi under Images,Movies

I spent a few minutes Googling whether or not this was real until I figured that Lucas’ need to make Star Wars kid friendly would probably overcome his desire to sell a toy that was merely a bag of bones. But hey, if freaking this guy gets his own action figure, why shouldn’t charred Owen and Beru? Clearly their smoldering bones were more relevant to the plot, and that image was burned in my mind (no pun intended) for years.

In researching this, I also found another hilarious definitely fake Star Wars toy in the form of The Force. I wouldn’t put that one past Lucas, the tricky devil.

Samus vs. Master Chief in the 16-Bit Fighter that Needs to Exist

Published by Paul Tassi under Video Games,Videos

What you see here is a prototype game called Card Sagas Wars (?) that will inevitably get shut down by the copyright police when it gets too popular.

It’s an 16-bit fighting game that uses some of your favorite video game characters, and makes them duke it out in a title that’s a lot more Street Fighter than Smash Bros.

Above you can see an epic battle between two power armored titans, Samus Aran and Master Chief. Below you can see a few other matchups like Soma vs. Crono and Link vs. Cloud. Very cool stuff here, and I hope through some miracle this comes to XBLA or PSN.

The Problem with Modern Console Gaming

Published by Paul Tassi under Images,Video Games

A few people have sent this in to me, as they’ve tuned in for some of my previous rants about preorder content and DLC. This uses the most classic game of all to show just what’s wrong with the current system, where you can never get all the content from your titles unless you pay about 50-70% extra in downloadable materials.

With games already at the ridiculous price of $60 regardless of whether they’re 4 hours long or 100, it’s frustrating to have to add even more on top of that to get the “full” experience. And I’ll say it again, DLC delays future titles more than it should, as time spent working on content there is not being spent on a true sequel. I always point to Borderlands as being guilty of this, which has practically come out with an entire other game’s worth of DLC at this point.

I also am tired of content you get for buying the game new or preordering it. Even stuff I qualify to get, I don’t want to register for EA Online, type in a code and download some extraneous character or weapon which never needed to exist at all. So I don’t, and in the back of my mind I always feel like I’m missing something.

Your thoughts on DLC?

Expanding My Cosplay Horizons with Valkyrie Profile’s Lenneth

Published by Paul Tassi under Images,Video Games

I write a lot of cosplay posts for the site here, but sometimes I feel that I’m limiting my scope by only featuring super popular characters from games we’ve all played.

Therefore I figured it was time to head into some more uncharted waters, with this awesome costume from a game series called Valkyrie Profile. I’m told it’s based around Norse mythology, and though I’ve never played it myself, the heroine looks pretty damn cool. It’s one of the three sisters from the game, Lenneth, and it’s from believe it or not FIRST TIME cosplayer Shappi out of Poland. Or at the very least it’s her first time making armor and wings.

There’s a whole gallery of her project below, and despite me not knowing who this is, I can definitely respect the work, and this is one of the cooler costumes I’ve seen. Check it out:

Riddle of the Day: Why Am I Posting This?

Published by Paul Tassi under Images,Television

Usually I’m posting crazy Star Wars art or a an editorial about Pokemon, so why the hell would I be posting what appears to be a simple screenshot of Google Maps?

It’s a mystery I’m going to let you try to figure out on your own, and I’m pretty sure there are enough clues here where you can. If you give up, you can hit the jump for the answer, which will likely also be the in the comments.

Childhood Cartoons Get Scary Realistic

Published by Paul Tassi under Images,Television

Dave Rapoza is a man with a talent for taking treasured memories from my childhood, and bringing them to life in such a fashion that I’m likely to have nightmares about them.

In this gallery, you’ll see his realistic interpretations of Ninja Turtles characters (but not the turtles themselves surprisingly), Thundercats and Samurai Pizza Cats and Super Meat Boy thrown in for good measure.

I’m looking forward to see what he comes up with next. Which series do you think this style would lend itself well to?

GIF Of the Week: Sonic’s Fatality

Published by Nattyb under Images

I don’t know who took the time to make this but this is definitely one of the coolest things I’ve seen in quite some time.   I wonder if Sonic will ever get old, like ever?

I really don’t think so.   His cult status is going to bring him right into the 22nd Century.   I’m glad.

That’s all I got.

Seven Celebrities With Weird Physical Flaws

Published by Nattyb under Lists

Most of us movie fans and music fans are made to believe that our favorite celebrities are perfect.   At least that’s what the perception is.   By no means do I mean socially perfect.   God knows that celebrities don’t lead the most usual personal lives.

However, appearance wise there’s a ton of pressure for them to look a certain way.   What I’m getting at is flaws are generally not the norm when it comes to celebrities.

Although these seven people do have some flaws of their own…some weird flaws….
