Now That’s What I Call Art

If you’re like me, you may find it a little hard to understand the world of modern art, in which a giant slinky painted with polka dots can be sold for $500,000 as commentary on the Israel/Palestine conflict. But this piece from artist David Herbert is one I fully appreciate.
It’s a VHS tape of 2001: A Space Odyssey, built to the dimensions of the giant black monolith from the film. Past the shape and color similarities, I’m not sure if a more broad statement is being made here, but if I were Bill Gates I’d plunk down a million to pick that up to decorate my home theater.

What you fail to mention is that it is actually built from recycled VHS tapes, which makes it even cooler.
