Grand Theft Auto IV – Friction = Carmaggedon

Published by at 2:00 pm under Video Games,Videos

This is just the week of wacky physics videos I guess, but I think this one from GTA IV might just be my favorite. Someone created a mod which takes out any sort of friction from the game, and for all you people who didn’t pay attention in physics, friction is the reason that when you start running and then stop, you don’t slide 50 feet until you hit a wall. Or something like that.

And when that’s applied to cars? It’s mayhem in the streets of Liberty City, and the objective of the game is no longer to do missions and seek revenge, rather it’s simply to stay alive for as long as possible by avoiding getting leveled by one of the thousands of cars hurling around the streets like missiles. Check it out above.

But if there’s no friction, how do you start running and driving?

It’s a set set the friction to a negative value for cars ONLY. Bikes and people don’t apply, obviously.

Also, who cares and why would it matter anyway. It’s hilarious. Enjoy it!

@Jake, of course it’s hilarious, but that’s just the first thing that came to my mind.

This is why I’m sometimes sad I buy my games on console, and not on PC.

It’s like what happens when Michael Bay gets complete creative control!

I just giggled all the way through that like an 9 year old girl and I have no regrets.
