What Microsoft Might Have Up Their Sleeve
So yes, it’s become clear that the Kinect’s lack of buttons might be biting it in the ass to some degree, but that doesn’t mean Microsoft isn’t working on new tech to get around such problems. Buttons are so 2009 after all.
What you’re about to see is called “Skinput” and though it’s not being developed for the Kinect specifically (at least no one has heard about it if it is), it IS being made by Microsoft, so to think that someday it might be used for the Xbox in some way would not be out of the question.
More or less the system projects a holographic interface onto the users arm, with tech that, yet again, really does feel like the future. Yes, it needs work, but still, pretty cool to see even in this early stage.

Note to all: Kinect doesnt pick up on darker skin tones.
Ku Klux Kinect, anyone?

Consumer Reports debunked that rumor.

Ridiculous … after 10 minutes of holding your arm out , there’s a good chance it’ll just get tired… especially when you constantly have to look down at your arm to see what the hell you’re pressing.
It’s like the world has turned on the controller.
Hey, why don’t they just invent a interface for the base of our skull so we can interact in a virtual world like that one movie with that guy.

But it’s no difference to holding out your ipod and selecting a new song.
The world is getting crazy, the other day I was playing with a screen in a shop throwing around photos with my finger tips, thought it was pretty cool, Minority Report style
