The Star Wars Prequel Trilogy in One GIF

UPDATE: Since I can’t get this GIF to work for unknown reasons, click here for a much more awesome version of it (thanks Zarq)

UPDATE 2: It works now, but still click on that link above.

Confession time: When The Phantom Menace came out, I absolutely loved it. The podracing, the lightsaber fights, all of it, was just so cool, I didn’t understand what the controversy was about. But then I turned thirteen and had a change of heart.

I saw the new trilogy for what it was, a shameless parade of merchandising held together by an exceptionally shoddy plot and poor dialogue which created poor performances from other good actors. Except for Hayden Christensen, who is terrible no matter the script.

Even the fight scenes were lame, as they were all flash and no substance. In trying to be “epic” like in the finale of Revenge of the Sith, they just became goofy, fighting on lava platforms and crawling up the sides of buildings. Light saber fighting and force powers have never been as good as they should be in ANY of the movies, and you should take a look at the Force Unleashed video game series, which is aptly named as it shows exactly how the Force SHOULD be used onscreen.

I disagree about the lightsaber fights being goofy. Especially the final one on Mustafar. When I was a little kid, that was the coolest thing possible, so much so that every single game I created and acted out with my friends (be it alien invasion or zombie attack) would inevitably end with a massive battle on a lava planet. Volcanic areas like the one in Revenge of the Sith were just the ultimate in battle settings. We literally could not think of anything cooler.

I will always stand by Phantom Menace as a decent and close to good but not great Star Wars film. Besides the obnoxious gungan and a few actor choice objections I still enjoy that movie once every few years. The saber battle in that would indeed had substance and if you deny that then well suck some Lucas nutsack cause it was epic.
The sequel was just horrendous except for parts of the climax battle (Jango Fett goes out like a biatch). Hayden Christensen was the worst thing to happen to the Star Wars universe. I understand the need to make R2D2 more of a comic relief to appeal to a younger demographic but honestly it was overkill.

I am grateful to have gotten another round of Star Wars movies growing up but I know this franchise will get better and better as the years go on now that the property is out of the clutches of Darth Lucas. A Han Solo movie and a Boba Fett movie after the JJ Abrams Star Wars flick? Hell yes.

I will never let that scene down when the Emperor tells Vader that he killed Padme……NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooo

    Make mine Marvel
