Before You Go See The Social Network…

You will now be thinking of this the whole time.
The Social Network is now sitting at a 98% on Rotten Tomatoes, and that’s only because Armond White, a professional movie critic troll, and a few delusional others gave it negative score. But needless to say, every other sane person on the planet thinks it’s great, and it’s probably the frontrunner for all the Oscars this year. All of them.
Despite the fact I haven’t seen the film yet (I will in a few hours), I’m pulling for Jesse Eisenberg to win best actor. Why? Because I got to meet him two weeks ago and it would be cool to say I met a kid who won an Oscar that year. He was a nice guy, his thoughts seemed a little jumbled in the interview I did with him, which was full of more “ums” than actual words and he never really took his eyes off the ground, but it’s clear he’s a very smart guy and exceptionally talented, and is not the “poor man’s Michael Cera” as once advertised. Zombieland showed that to some extent, but Social Network should really prove his abilities as an actor for those of you who never saw The Squid and the Whale.

I still dont see why they take your reviews. perhaps you just need a website strictly for film reviews.
Wait a sec, that ISN’T Micheal Cera?
And Cera wasn’t in Zombieland?
Holy fucking shit.
someone sounds a wee bit jealous? hmmm?
but seriously, you should review some older movies to be taken seriously.
I’m not one for Armond White, but the basis of his review is the very reason I wanted to avoid this movie; praise for the snarky trust-fund babies.
This is about the only time that I’ll ever be able to take Mr. White seriously.

It’s unfortunate when movie reviewers tend to make up their minds about a film before even seeing the movie; professional movie critics ought not to buy into the hype.

I do agree that Armond White probably criticises a few movies unjustly – against the tide just in order to make a splash and does it rather evocatively, but if you go through his reviews they are always intelligible and are never extraneously or impertinently scathing.
It honestly shouldn’t matter if the rottentomatoes meter hits 100% or not; unless you believe the two percent difference in rating will change your mind as to not see the movie, after all free speech entitles everone to his own opinion.
BTW I’ve been following this blog for the past couple of weeks, stumbled upon it by accident, and really enjoy reading the motif and variety that’s presented here; this is my first time commenting.
Cheers.

How can you claim he’s not a poor man’s Michael Cera when you haven’t even seen the movie. I saw it and that is exactly what he was. The whole movie he wore 1 expression and that was it. The character was flat and so was his acting.
