Alright This Minecraft Thing is Getting Out of Control
I really, really am resisting getting this game despite the entire internet jumping on board, because I don’t want to get addicted to something that looks so fundamentally futile. Yes, I suppose it’s fun to make three dimensional pixel art or little castles, but I have to go earn credits for a new Halo chestplate goddamnit!
Yes, I realize that all achievements in video games are equally useless, but Minecraft die hards are getting out of control. This is best demonstrated by this video, which shows a guy who is building a LIFE SIZE replica of the USS Enterprise in the game. As you can see, it’s insanely massive, and I don’t even want to know how long this took to orchestrate. I guess he imported some blueprints into the game from somewhere, but I’m guessing it was still really damn hard and therefore worthy of recognition here.
Next up, a life size Death Star plz?
More Unreal Posts

I think that may be the single most impressive object I’ve ever seen in any video game. The fact that it takes 3 minutes to run the length of it is amazing.
I’ve played both versions of minecraft, the video where he sets his house on fire is according to me much more engaging but this is insane! Just building that wall, 1 square another stacked on top of it to that height like half a minute, a minute.
At first I was sceptical of the game but it’s quite enjoyable the amount of control you have over the world even if it is just one block at a time. I’d love some more global tools for some major terraforming, and let harvesting of materials remain the same.
If you do start playing the version where you have a day/night cycle, baddies, tools and weaponry I recommend getting your shelter up high in a cliff and carve out a little safe spot. The beasts can’t really get there, you won’t have to make a door and you got access to a mine in your own home. You can also grow crops on the mountain side that has grass, you can plant trees for wood, you can run a water line to the crops and you can work during the night time hours assuming you have torches.
Also, read a guide, it will lessen your frustration and get you going strong within the hour.
This video got me interested so I started looking around on youtube. There’s some pretty impressive stuff like the Empire State Building, The Reichstag, Notre Dame and this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWPk5zlKAEM&feature=related

an article in swedish, it says in short terms: He makes a shit load of money, around 350 000 dollars a day. Its ridiculous. His comment on the whole thing
“It all feels unreal. I thought I could make a living from the game, but I did not expect to become rich.”
Make it the Death Star II.
Fuckin’ 900 miles across. And even then he has to get the unfinished portions exactly right. I’d pay money to see that.
i used to do this kind of thing back in the day with the duke nukem level editor. That’s what probably lead me to my eventual career as a CGI artist/animator.
