Mario and Chun Li Get Drunk and Swap Clothes

I’ll be honest, as much as I love DeviantArt, I don’t always quite understand it’s members.
Such is certainly the case today, as I try to make sense of what would possess someone to draw Mario and Chun Li at a bar wearing each other’s outfits. I’m not saying I don’t think it’s awesome, because it so clearly is, but I’m just wondering how that idea is inspired in the first place. I also don’t know why Mario looks like Wario.
I’m really curious to see how far you can take this clothing swap thing Benryou, I vote Link and Lara Croft are next.
