This is Not the Sandwich You’re Looking For
This is a rather funny behind the scenes shot from Star Wars I stumbled across that I thought I’d share with you. It’s the man inside the robot, little person Kenny Baker taking a lunch break on set.
Guess they didn’t need anyone inside the other droid opposite him, but can you imagine how hard it would be to actually do this? Especially in the blazing desert heat of Tatooine, errr whatever desert they shot this in? And I’m pretty sure he actually has to work little switches and levels on cue in there as well. I can’t even imagine how that would work.
But good work Kenny Baker, we appreciate your efforts and you’re the coolest little guy that most people have never heard of.

Who came first, the dwarf or the droid? Did they make R2 tall/wide enough to fit the guy or did they find a small enough person after R2 was constructed?
Good question Korky. The desert in question Paul is Tunisia. And for every movie save for Empire, they filmed at least one scene on location.
no
Actually there was a person inside the C3PO costume. The same guy who does the voice, I forget his name.
