I think borderlands is where FPS games need to evolve to. To a certain degree, that's what's happening. Bioshock, singularity and borderlands are basically FPS with RPG elements. I would say that COD Modern warfare is similar in the multiplayer in that you get better perks.

Absolutely, I don't plan on getting Black Ops or the new medal of honor because I already have modern warfare 2, why would I want it twice again?

I do still love the Halo games and hell I have all the others (not halo:wars RTS? on a console? no thanks) all neat and tidy on my game shelf would be a shame not to round out the series.

i'm yet another person that agrees; FPS games do very little for me. a few that put a spin on things that i think deserve a mention are Fallout 3 and Condemned, i think they take the genre of FPS and do something nicely different with it.

Ninja Gaiden 2, in terms of action and pure combat, is probably the best game I've ever played. It is so damn challenging; you need to take EVERY enemy seriously.

I wholeheartedly agree. I love FPS's but rarely buy them. Normally I rent 'em from Gamefly, get bored with them, return 'em.

There are, however, some exceptions. Borderlands was a great co-op quasi-MMOFPS with a unique visual style and some fun weaponry. Portal was a 3-4 hour game that was more fun and imaginative than any FPS since Half-Life 2. The Half-Life and Bioshock games are brilliant, and Left for Dead 1 & 2 are great to play with a bunch of pals.

I completely agree with you on this one, though I have to admit I do enjoy a good MW2 deathmatch from time to time.

That being said, I'm also hoping for a sequel to Mirror's Edge. While technically still a FPS, its focus was so completely different I enjoyed it immensely (despite of some elements that needed polishing).
