How Long Can Michael Cera Possibly Look this Young?

Published by Nattyb at 10:00 am under Editorials

Granted I didn’t realize that Superbad is still only 3 years old but still.  Come on!  Michael Cera is now a whopping 22 years old and the dude still looks 14.  And can someone explain this Scott Pilgrim movie?  I mean I guess I understand how it’s tapping into the geekiness of our time.  I get how it is sourcing a bit from video games, the web, technology, etc etc but there’s gotta be a better way to do it than have Cera get a bowl cut haircut and fight, yes FIGHT.

Michael Cera fighting?  Come on man.  Don’t get me wrong, I kind of like the dude but can’t you see him in like 30 years winding up like Stewie from Family Guy in the episode where Stewie sees his future self?  There’s gotta be a time limit on Cera right?  Then again Tom Cruise still looks like he’s 15 so who knows.

It’s just gonna be funny seeing Michael Cera still play teenagers when he’s 30.  That or until Hollywood gets tired of this stuff.  Hey kudos to Cera for having a solid career but I really just don’t understand all of this.

And what the hell will they do with his hair for his next film?  That I’m actually eagerly anticipating.  I think he’s playing Gilligan.

He’s always playing the awkward teen role and it’s really getting old!

Ah, the Stewie thing was dead on. He already looks like the older Stewie

Kind of reminds me a little like Franki Muniz’s roles. wasn’t he like 20 still playing a teen? or is it just me?,…

The character Scott Pilgrim isnt a teenager so theres a start to him playing an adult role.

Don’t think he’s playing a teenager in this movie… think it is the indeterminate out of high school but still young age, which is right where he is at.

As far as his future roles, kid’s not a bad actor… change his hair cut, drop 10-15 lbs on him and he’s a normal looking dude.

I don’t like the casting at all for Scott. Scott is supposed to be relatively cool (being in a band and such), but Cera always plays the awkward kid. Having not seen the movie, maybe it’s an evolution in his acting, or making Scott a lame-o

The character ‘Scott Pilgrim’ is 23 so at least this time Cera played someone a teeny bit older.

As for him being 30 and playing a teenager. Not the first time it has happened in Hollywood. So many instances of this happening, you can make a list of actors suddenly playing characters 10/15 years younger.

As for Cera and his acting. Hopefully he moves beyond this little niche he has. I don’t want to see a movie where we are suppose to believe he is playing an awkward teen but he has wrinkles and using a cane to walk.

I’m with Rubiksman. Cera is not Scott Pilgrim per the comics. This would have been exponentially more awesome as a 2d traditionally animated (or even Flash-styled) flick in Bryan Lee O’Malley’s comics style.

No no no – the Arrested Development movie already HAS a Gilligan. Granted, it’s IRA Gilligan, the family accountant, but still…

I think it’s interesting that Pilgrim is debuting opposite The Expendables. One features an actor who has played the same role since Arrested Development and the other features a bunch of guys who have played the same role since the 1980′s.

This movie should be good, but in all honesty I’m getting tired of Cera playing the same role over and over again………………I mean he’s good but I would just rather see some new faces.

Go watch Scott Pilgrim, it was actually an amazing movie. I thought it was going to be good but it turned out to be AMAZING! It was one of the few movies I’ve seen that when it didn’t follow the comic I didn’t mind.

Having loved the books, I don’t understand the casting of Michael Cera.

Michael is not cute, and he is not cool. scott wasn’t a geek or un attractive in the book. I just think he got cast because this was a “nerd” book and he is identified as a nerd.

His fight scenes look sooo… awkward. They could have found someone a little better than Michael.

yeah. he’s supposed to be about 23 in the book/movie….

I like Cera. He is an akward looking guy with awkward mannerisms. What other roles would everyone like to see him in? He has a shelf life and it will expire, but I will enjoy his movies as long as they are decent.
