The Final Countdown: District 11, Loving Robots and 5nal Destination

Published by Paul Tassi under Final Countdown

Go here to see District 11.

I’m surprised it took this long, but someone finally made the connection of the World Cup and District 9 both being set in South Africa. I would have thought it would be CollegeHumor, but nope, the folks at Atom stepped up and made quite honestly an exceptionally hilarious video called “District 11″ which I highly recommend watching by clicking above.

Unreality’s Facebook page has Germany all the way.

How Twilight is Like Soccer

Published by Paul Tassi under Images,Movies

twilight-twitter.jpg

Hah, this is the first thing I’ve found retweeting in a long while, as the Twilight/soccer analogy is pretty dead on. Though I do like soccer, there is nothing more boring than watching a 0-0 game for 120 minutes.

I’m currently trying to figure out how I can go see Eclipse (since I have to review it) without being creepy. With a girlfriend currently in another state (who already saw the film last night at midnight) and none of my friends willing to bite the bullet, I think I’m just going to have to be uber shady and go by myself into a theater full of tweens and their moms. I’ll look pretty shady riding solo, and even more so since I’ll have my hood up with sunglasses on in case I see someone there I would know. Yeah, I might look like a child abductor, but at least my identity will be secure!

Metal Slug Remade in Starcraft 2

Published by Paul Tassi under Video Games,Videos

Starcraft 2‘s map editor perplexes me. I’m used to the standard world creator from Brood War, which also allowed for custom made games like Tower Defense and Madness, but here, things are being taken to a new level entirely, and the creation system in the game is about five steps past Little Big Planet.

Essentially, with enough time and skill, you can create any type of game. I mean that almost literally. A regular RTS map, a 3rd person shooter, a sidescrolling adventure, any of that. I haven’t messed around with the tools myself yet, but clearly they’re insanely in-depth if someone was able to remake freaking Metal Slug in the game.

Check out the video above, and tell me that’s not awesome. Once this game is released, I can’t wait to see the crazy shit people come up with.

This Ain’t a Toy Story

Published by Paul Tassi under Images,Movies

And the coolest picture of the week goes to….Segal Zbakoe, or someone similar to that name because I can’t read cursive to save my life.

This realistic rendering of the Toy Story cast is wicked awesome, with Buzz blasting his atomic laser, Wendy hucking axes and Woody proving that those holsters actually can contain bullet firing devices. Together they’re battling the evil three-eyes minions of Zurg, which are no longer rubber and squeaky.

Great work, artist who’s name I don’t understand. I’d love to see more of your stuff. I’d think about coloring this to make it even more excellent than it already is.

Will The Office Survive the Exodus of Michael Scott?

scott1.jpg

There’s news this week that once his seven year contract for The Office is up at the end of this season, Steve Carell will be leaving the show, presumably to pursue his better paying career as a movie star.

But curiously enough, Carell goes out of his way to say that he believe the show can, and should carry on without him, though I suppose that’s the nice thing to say, when you’re possibly singlehandedly ending something that dozens of people get paid full-time to work on. But no, it’s not over, he claims.

“It doesn’t certainly mean the end of the show. I think it’s just a dynamic change to the show, which could be a good thing, actually. Add some new life and some new energy…I see it as a positive in general for the show.”

And he’s right, it will not mean the end for the show, as NBC will not dare risk immediately axing one of their only franchises that people still are loyal to for something as trivial as the lead leaving. No, they’ll keep it going, like a brainless zombie still lumbering around aimlessly post-mortem.

Han Solo and Chewbacca Thirty Years Later

Published by Paul Tassi under Images,Movies

In order to celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back, George Lucas has coerced Harrison Ford to actually acknowledge he was in the series, after years of dodging Star Wars questions saying his stint as Han Solo “was over.”

But now he’s playing along, and therefore we get awesome pictures like this one, where he’s posing with the man inside the Chewbacca suit, Peter Mayhew. To answer your question no, Ford is not a midget, Mayhew is about seven feet tall, and was 7’3″ as his peak during his Chewbacca years.

God, look at Ford. Do you really think he has ANOTHER new Indiana Jones movie in him?

A Video Tribute to the Legendary Danny Trejo

Published by Madison under Movies,Videos

danny-trejo.jpg

Danny Trejo is the man.  A lot of actors play tough guys, but Danny Trejo is about as real as they come.  Trejo – a cousin of Robert Rodriguez – didn’t go to acting classes or partake in theater as a kid.  Instead, he ran the streets, boxed, was addicted to drugs, and found himself in and out of California prisons, including the notorious San Quentin State Prison.  Danny has since gotten his life together and is set to star in the upcoming action flick Machete.  He’s truly grateful for his second chance at life, and he seems incredibly humble and down-to-earth as a result of his experiences.  They don’t make them much tougher – or cooler – than Danny Trejo.  Check out 10 video clips of the man below, from fights to hanging with fans to goofing around on movie sets to sketch comedy shorts.  Trejo rules.

A Pretty Sweet Collection of Red Sonja Fan Art

Published by Nattyb under Images,Movies

Red Sonja

If there was ever a movie that would take you five seconds to figure out would be remade, it’s Red Sonja.   I mean if you saw the one from 1985 you were probably entertained.  I mean at the least you had a sexy Brigitte Nielsen,  Arnold Schwarzenegger playing a guy who wasn’t Conan but was really Conan, and that funny little Karate Kid guy who was in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2.

Oh and by the way.  How the hell was that not Conan?  Kalidor?  Come on now.  Just make the guy Conan will ya?  Anyways.  Red Sonja is one hell of a sexy comic character and I’m curious to see how Rose McGowan will do as her.  Personally I think a red headed Scarlett Johansson would be the ideal choice but whatever.

Seeing any hot chick in little clothing wielding a sword has to be fun on some scale.  And just for good measure I decided to share some pretty sweet interpretations of Red Sonja for your enjoyment….

The Morning Link: Vuvuzelas in Games

Published by Paul Tassi under Morning Link

Vuvuzelas in video games aren’t just for FIFA World Cup 2010 anymore. As it turns out, they can be applied to a number of different games and game devices, and yes, they’re just as annoying there as well.

Go here to check them out.

The Final Countdown: Fallout – New Vegas in Action, a Top Gun Sequel and Grace Park

Published by Paul Tassi under Final Countdown

Go here to see New Vegas in action.

Alright, so it’s not a true sequel I suppose, but there’s a lot of cool shit crammed into Fallout: New Vegas that you can see in this first demo footage here from G4. I’ve explored the Wasteland 10 time over, and I’m pumped for a new post-apocalyptic locale that seems to be a bit less desolate. They have LIGHTS! Woo ho!

Unreality’s Facebook page is uninhabitable for 400 years.
