The Morning Link: An Interesting Take on Alice in Wonderland

Published by at 8:00 am under Morning Link

Alice

Crazy old Tim Burton is at it again! This time its Alice in Wonderland, a sequel to the original Lewis Caroll classic books. Yet again, Mr Burton is shoving Johnny Depp in our faces in an attempt to re-ignite the flame that brought them so much success in the past.

But with recent outings in Charlie and the chocolate factory and The Demon Barber falling well below par, it’s hard to know whether this movie will put the pair back on top.

To find out see what COED’s take on it is.

I can’t open up the COED review cause it’s a restricted site here at work, but I saw this movie last night and I have to say that I was fairly disappointed.

First, I do not think it was worth the extra money to see in 3d. Second, I felt like it was too short. The whole movie moved very quickly. So quickly that at times I was confused as to what was going on, like my brain didn’t have the right amount of time to soak up what just happened in a previous scene. Third, it was terribly predictable. I don’t want to put any spoilers in this post so I won’t go farther than saying you’ll know how the movie ends within the first 20-25 minutes or so.

On the other hand, the visuals were nice (not stunning) and the environments were pleasant even though the 3d wasn’t necessary. Mia Wasikowska and Anne Hathaway were my favorites in this one, probably because I’m tired of seeing Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter in Tim Burton’s movies. OH, and I didn’t realize Alan Rickman was the Blue Caterpillar before seeing this so that was a pleasant surprise.

All in all, what I thought was good work by Rickman, Wasikowska and Hathaway was not enough to make up for the bouncy plot and overdoses of Depp and Carter.

Have the same issue with the review, But I had a different take on the movie.

    I loved it.

It was paced the way it was to disquiet and confuse, it is a movie about and filled with madness.

The fact that some had a hard time wrapping their brains around it means it did its job well.

Thought it was fun and a movie worth seeing on the big screen.
