The Morning Link: Do We Need Transformers 3?

Published by at 8:00 am under Morning Link

Bay

Michael Bay was on Starz’ “In the House” (which is a TV show, apparently), where he discussed his upcoming projects. He was going to direct a “small” film before starting Transformers 3. To clarify, a small Michael Bay film still uses enough explosive material to be seen from space.

But thankfully Michael Bay has decided to stall on the short film so that he can stimulate the economy with the production of Transformers 3.  Yes, that’s what he said.

Check out Michael Bay’s contribution to the economy.

This comment has nothing to do with the posted article. I just wanted to say that I’m impressed. I’m impressed because I get to work at 7am each morning and usually by that time you guys already have the morning link posted. That takes dedication. Well done.

? He’s saying that it’s tough to get jobs atm (true), he has a choice to make a film that would create less jobs than Transformers 3 would (true), and that this might leave some of the crew of his former films unemployed for the year (most likely true). He doesn’t claim that Transformers 3 had any mentionable effect on the economy in general, he just says that the descision to make it now would help the people that are specificly hired to make T3 and would otherwise be out of a job, and yes, to THEM this is kind of important.

I wish his movies would stop making money. The guy really only does action scenes moderately well, and he can’t present a story for crap. Transformers 2 is easily one of the worst movies I have seen in years. It’s the first time in a LONG time that I have actually shut off a movie I rented because it was so terrible. I couldn’t even sit through it to make fun of it.

@Gojira: If you have the talent, skills, etc. to make transformers 3. I think you would find a job somewhere in hollywood.
