How Boring are the Olympics?

Or I guess an alternate title could be, “How Awesome is Stephen Colbert?” Dude probably has front row tickets to whatever event he’s at, and he’s reading Cat Fancy. I guess his Colbert-sponsored speed skating team wasn’t racing yet. How the hell did that come about? I don’t get the connection between that sport and Colbert where he would feel the need to sponsor it. I mean, I guess go America and all that stuff, but it’s pretty random. But I suppose Colbert is pretty random.
I have yet to watch two seconds of ANY Olympic event so far, half to protest most of my favorite shows being knocked off the air, half because I don’t really give a shit. Maybe I’ll watch the hockey finals or if there ends up being any really hot figure skaters. Otherwise, bring me back my NBC comedy Thursday!
More Unreal Posts

You’re not missing anything. I’ll take the summer games any day.
I don’t know about you guys, but yesterday’s hockey games were some of the best games I have seen from -any- sport in ages. The Canada-Switzerland game was absolutely amazing.
@ Josh
The hockey is watchable, yes. Everything else, no.
I was actually pretty interested by the Men’s Hockey Last night. I’m usually not into the whole hockey scene, but it really seemed very interesting. It went even into overtime, which was leaving me on the edge of my seat and then into shoot outs. In all, I was pretty entertained.
Though, you can’t expect too much from the Winter Olympics anyway, they never have been to interesting….I was a bit disappointed not be able to watch 30 Rock yesterday seeing as I finally could because Supernatural is off till March, but Fox shows were still on at least?
Anyway, props to sharing the image of Colbert, it really is awesome x)
Are you kidding? The skiing and snowboarding wipeouts alone are worth watching. And the hockey is top notch, although the fact that a lot of the men are scooped up from the NHL means that they’re not playing together as a team like the women are. Not complaining though, it’s still entertaining as all get out. I’ll take the winter Olympics over the summer ones any day of the week.
I have to disagree with you guys – I like the Winter Olympics way better than the Summer. Maybe it’s because I’m Canadian, maybe because the sports are FAR stranger. Freestyle skiing and snowboard are quite exciting, and of course I love me some hockey (though our boys gave me a scare last night). Even skeleton and speed skating hold my interest.
I just wish there wasn’t so much inane banter while they wait for the next athlete to go. That’s what kills it for me.
I tend to like events that don’t require judges to determine a winner. The winter games are just packed with those types of events (skiing, snowboarding, figure skating, just to name a few). Not that there aren’t judged events in the summer games, but it seems just in track and field alone there are more races and actual competitions amongst the athletes that don’t require a judge. Add in swimming and basketball, and to me, it isn’t even close.
I thought the new snowboarding games were pretty cool. And I watch all the speed skating races. But that’s probably because i’m dutch
When I tuned to watch Parks and Rec and 30 Rock I was once again reminded how much I HATE the Olympics. Growing up before cable, VHS, DVR, etc., I have always resented these retarded sports events preempting my regularly scheduled shows! I’m not sure, but my intense hatred of both the Winter and Summer games must mean that Different Strokes, Silver Spoons and Fact of Life were all, at one time, replaced by discus throwing or ice luging.
Curling. Don’t want to watch – can’t look away.
Colbert’s involvement in speed skating came from a news article stating the Olympic team was dangerously low on sponsorship money. He jumped in on behalf of patriotic loyalty (jokingly? I don’t know this time), but has no other connection to the sport itself.
And yes, this has severely interrupted my NBC comedy schedule as well.
Olympics are VERY boring, winter, summer or special. Really.
