Yeah, it's bound to get really campy, and this group may value attributes that few value outside of the group, but considering the size of hollywood nowadays in terms of manpower, there's more than enough people to justify it. I like trying to see all the noms before the big night too...I never would have gone to see There Will Be Blood without them. I mean, how many of us would have seen Slumdog if it wasn't nominated? So even though they've kind of become as irrelevant as the Grammys, they provide a pretty good heads up for stuff we might have missed.
