My Two Favorite Superbowl Commercials from Last Night

Published by Paul Tassi at 3:20 pm under Television, Videos

Google Search Story:

Etrade Baby Girlfriend:

Since my job obligates me to watch about 10 different TV shows and at least three movies a week, I don’t have time for “sports.” But every year I do sit down and watch the Superbowl with friends, though of course I’m doing it to watch the commercials, but whatever, it counts.

I’ve steadily watched commercials get worse and worse over the years, to the point where I don’t think it’s possible to make any sort of top ten list about them post-game. Instead, there were really only two spots that stuck out in a positive way for me, which you’ll see above. The Google one was touching, the Etrade one was funny, albeit a bit disconcerting. They fired the old baby! I guess babies have to grow up at some point, but it’s gotta be a bummer to be forcibly retired at 11 months.

Granted I didn’t catch every single commercial last night, so if I missed you favorite, send me a link. If anyone says GoDaddy, I will punch you in the face.

Another good one IMO was the Dorito’s “Dog’s Revenge” one. That one and the two you posted about were my favorites.

The Google search ad was great, but enough with talking babies.

I thought one of the best commercials was the Snickers one with Betty White playing tackle football.

My friends & I actually booed when we saw the google commercial.

The godaddy commercials are always retarded: “Do you think I have what it takes to dance in a skimpy outfit for money?” Yes, I will assemble the men in the area to bring out their dollar bills…

I had a friend over who even worked on the godaddy commercials & he said they were great in person, but just as stupid as they’ve always been on TV.
I really only liked the VW commercial with Stevie Wonder, but that’s cause I didnt get to see Betty White on HGH.

The two you linked were pretty good, as were the Betty White Snickers and the Doritos dog collar spot. Other than those, the commercials were total crap.

This year is the first year I was more excited for the commercials than the game.
With so many mentions of New Orleans “resilience” I actually found myself rooting for the hurricanes byt the time the game came on.

Pretty much all the Doritos Commercials were great.

J5 if you’re going to hate on New Orleans at least check your spelling.
