So even though you’ve already seen the pinnacle of badassness that is me wearing my Modern Warfare 2 Ghost ski mask from Ballys, I think this guy actually beats me out since he’s you know, an actual solider, inside of an actual military vehicle.

I think if we made these things standard issue to our entire armed forces, we’d win all our wars within the month, as our enemies would just bow down because of how awesome we looked. Although an entire army marching around wearing skull masks indicates that American just might be the bad guys after all, wouldn’t you think?

The insignia on the front of his chest shows he is actually a marine. however, the fact that he has no insignia on his arms is puzzling…

perhaps a marsoc operator? marines usually don’t wear balaclavas since they are not special ops folks.

i’m gonna go with force recon or marsoc untill someone can help identifying him.

The Persian immortals tried to wear scary outfits and win wars, but one of the first Democracies proved the true way to win a war (as our solders are doing now) is by winning the hearts and minds of the people, with their real faces and not hiding behind a facade.

Someone once said the the side with the best uniforms always looses.

There appears to be an image to the left of his face.

Yeah, and the persians ended up housing the greeks at thermopylae…. although, man for man, the greeks held them at bay (300 spartans and 1000 thesbians), not because they won hearts and minds and showed face, but because they were a disciplined fighting force, trained like no other force in that time period.

psychological warfare works. sherman’s total warfare, mongol hordes bloody slaughters of children and all livestock.

putting on a scary face gets you far. that’s why spec war operators often wear black belaclavas and goggles. it makes them look like black menacing robots, not humans, so the enemy will fear them.

so while hearts and minds can be one by nice guy troops living amidst the locals. when the battle turns hot, you want to be the scariest mo fos anyone has every seen.

You make little sense tewkewl. One major historical fact you got wrong was Sherman and Genghis Khan. Khans army allowed all cultures to exist without raping and sensless killing. The stupid armies never had empires the ones taht did used the people as assets, as long as the Mongols provided for their safety. The reason the US solder has done incredibly well in Iraq, is because of this very reason, not because they are wearing protective gear, that makes them look like menacing robots..lol

And If you were going to be the scariest mo fos then just nuke them.

At the end of a convoy in which he received and returned fire with his 50 calibre machine gun, U.S. Marine turret gunner Cpl. Ian Bole, of Port Royal, South Carolina, wearing a face mask with a skull design, breathes steam on a cold day inside an armored vehicle in the Pech Valley, Kunar province, northeastern Afghanistan on Thursday Jan. 28, 2010. ah. mystery solved. my leatherneck friend correctly identified him as a tanker or mechanized marine. he said he could tell by the body armor and the fact that he is in a heavy vehicle. marsoc or force recon don’t travel that heavy.

good catch obediah! one badass devil dog none the less!

  10. […] we found him in a vehicle a while ago, and now, reader Cam has sent us in this picture from a Fox News slideshow that shows him hanging […]

I’m surprised they let them wear the damn thing. You’re supposed to blend in with the rest of your group, not stand out.
