It might be a stretch but SPINAL TAP was made by a bunch of SNL writers (and McKeon was an actual cast member and Harry Shearer appeared on stage from time to time when they needed an extra person). They played at least once on the show but I’m not sure if it was before or after the movie.

Ladies Man deserves to be on that list instead of Superstar, but otherwise its a good list. I’ve always loved the Coneheads- Beldar chewing a condom like gum and blowing a bubble kills!

Wayne’s World is a movie that I watched really young, and watching it now I find it so much more funny. It’s probably because I didn’t get anything in the movie, it’s like an AHHH moment in every scene.

I find Night at the Roxbury hilarious. The movie was definitely one you watch at 2 am with a group of friends with nothing else to do. The inside of the club is like the outside, and the outside of the club is like the inside. GENIUS!!

And didn’t they chew condoms in Coneheads as bubble gum? Weirddddddddd.

So what we’re saying is that there were 2 good movies based on SNL sketches?

@ devist8r – neither Rick Moranis or Dave Thomas were ever on SNL, at least not as cast members. Though Rick was in Ghostbusters with former SNL cast members Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray. Though if they had been on SNL then Strange Brew would have been number 2 or 3.

There really aren’t many good SNL movies, but Wayne’s World and the Blues Brothers definitely belong in the top 2 spots. I actually like Wayne’s World 2 alright, and the Ladies Man is a guilty pleasure. I get a kick out of Billy Dee’s character in that, and I have to have a juvenile laugh at Leon’s ability to apply sexual innuendo to any situation (even when interviewing a nun.)
