Mass Effect 2 Launch Trailer to Get You Pumped for Tuesday

The word “epic” is thrown around a lot on the internet these days, but there really is no other way to describe this launch trailer for Mass Effect 2, which has been my most anticipated game for the last three years or so. For as much as I hate the puzzingly popular Dragon Age from Bioware, the exact opposite of that is how much I like Mass Effect, largely because I can describe the combat system without using the word “clusterf*ck” and my character actually has a voice, which allows me to relate to him (or on my second playthrough, her).

Hopefully ME2 will take a page out of Assassin’s Creed 2′s book and fix everything people complained about like the blinding reptitiveness of the side-quests, and the mindless planet exploring  that all my friends made fun of me for. “All I ever see you doing in this game is driving this damn cart around some rocks.” I’m also VERY curious to see how Shepard will be ported over from the previous game, and what consequences your choices from the last game will effect this tim around.

    I with you Paul, can’t wait for this to drop on tuesday. Is it just me or does the brunette from the trailer look a bit like Agent Sarah Walker (Yvonne Strahovski), from Chuck?

    It’s actually her, she’s Aussie and uses her natural accent in it.
    If it makes you feel better Paul, on my second playthrough I visited every single planet and read every bit of information about them, and completed every side quest. Loved every minute of it too. I’m kind of hoping there’s a little bit of it left in because there’s something in landing on a random alien planet and going for a leisurely drive.

    Wow, that’s some crazy character modeling if you can tell who the real actress is just from that.

    @RobG

    Yeah, I did that on my third playthrough

    1st time – Was going to go back and do the rest of the side quests later, didn’t realize the game wouldn’t let you.

    2nd time – Beat only the main mission, with a chick instead of a guy making all of the opposite decisions to see what would happen.

    3rd time – Recreated my original guy, did every single side quest and talked to every single person and found every single mineral deposit, saving along the way so the game wouldn’t trap me about 2/3rds of the way into the storyline.

    Yeah, I spent at least 100+ hours in that game. That only thing I didn’t do was read the codex. Who the hell writes all that stuff?

    Bioware NEEDS to make the game not have a hard ending this time around, so you can keep exploring after the ending, whatever it may be.

    I read all of the codex entries on the alien races but everything else was pretty damn boring and there were sooooo many of them.
    Was the voice actor for the female shepard as good as the guy? I played through twice with a couple of half playthroughs. Biotic + hardest difficulty = frustration and giving up.
    Yeah hopefully they let you stick around afterwards, it’s been the biggest criticism I’ve heard of the original. I’m interested to see all the cross overs of your decisions from the first one, mainly the love stories since it looks like shepard gets quite a bit more action this time around.
    What classes did you play? I found the half breed classes the best, I played with an evil infiltrator/sniper and a good vanguard/jedi.
