“That Guy” Actor of the Week: Doug Hutchison

For any of you watching the new season of 24 you’ll know who Doug Hutchison is. He’s a terrorist named Davros who does a pretty crappy Russian accent. Well, he DID have a pretty crappy Russian accent. You see, Davros is already dead after trying to assassinate the Idontknowwhatcountrycan President. We still don’t know what nationality these guys are? Jesus.
In any event I first took notice of Hutchison as the creepy Percy in the movie The Green Mile. He was awesome in that role and extremely scumbaggish. I kind of thought Hutchison might land more movie roles after that but since his role as Gus in I Am Sam in 2001 he’s been doing mostly television. Most notably Lost.
But he’s definitely the type of guy where you say “I know that guy, what’s he in?” Well now you all know his name. I suspect his next TV role will return him to an American accent. At least I sure as hell hope it does.
Doug’s video after the jump
Here he is in what I consider to be his best role

He does creepy/shady real well, so he should continue to have lots of work int he future.
I can’t the video link to open. I have a hard time watching this guy because he was the star of two of the creepiest X-Files ever. Squeeze & Tooms. The creator of the X-files was supposedly so creeped out by his character, that he had to write the follow up episode, so he could kill the character off. Edward Tooms portrayed by Doug Hutchison is definitely nightmare worthy!
Ditto to what April said! That frog-thing was nuts. I miss X-Files.
UGH, as soon I saw the picture it brings back my memories of The Green Mile….I almost got dumped for crying so hard/loud through the entire thing. That guy is a good actor though because anyone who can make me that upset….yah, he’s doing something right!
Every time I see this guy, I think of the X-Files episodes that a couple of others mentioned already. Actually, he was in the first X-Files episode I ever saw. It wasn’t long after that that I was hooked on the show. The episode “Squeeze” is especially unnerving. It gives you a sense of dread thinking that someone could sneak into almost any house with so little effort.
he played Eugene Victor Tooms and was awesome!
I remember him from x-files, one of the creepiest characters from the show. Whenever I see automatic stairs, I remember him. Euwwww. He gives the constantly sweaty palmed pedophiliac vibe.
