“Violent Games Are Worse Than Porn” – Says Ron Jeremy

Ron Jeremy

Hmm.  Perhaps if a study were made by scientists and accredited people to make these calls I might pay a bit more attention…

Violent video games have “a much bigger negative influence on kids” than pornography, a leading porn star has claimed. He said parents should be more worried about the harmful effects of such games.

Mr Jeremy’s comments were made at a session called the Great Porn Debate during the Consumer Electronics Show, CES, in Las Vegas.

Needless to say this pissed off quite a few gamers who claim that Jeremy is 100% ignorant and shouldn’t be pointing fingers at the gaming industry when porn itself is struggling.

However, I will say this brings up a good debate.  Which one is worse?  Look, even a gamer has to admit that violent games can certainly have an effect on children and their behavior.  Too much of one world will certainly influence another if given enough exposure.  Hell, just look at some divorces taking place just because of a virtual world (though that’s not a violent game).   My point is that games do have an effect.

But porn?  Porn has already been proven to have effects that are similar to drugs, yes drugs.  The same endorphins can go off in the brain that are just as powerful as crack or heroin when a person is watching porn.  While video games have had similar effects there are WAY less cases of addiction than the porn industry has.   And P.S. sexual addiction might not be a term you’re aware of now, but I’m making the call that it’s as big as “alcoholism” in the next 20 years.

I think that people perceive porn as more “real” which is what the main issue is.  For the most part people are aware that video games are fake whereas porn changes your perception on what you think sex is supposed to be.

Hell I love porn but to say it’s less dangerous than video games is lunacy.

What an asshat. Does this clown have a degree in psychology or done some in depth study on video games and their effects? Just throwing out a comment like that is completely asinine.

As with everything I think George Carlin puts it best:
“People much wiser than I have said, I’d rather have my son watch a film with two people making love than two people trying to kill one other. And I of course agree. I wish I know who said it first, and I agree with that. But I would like to take it a step further. I would like to substitute the word fuck, for the word kill in all those movie cliches we grew up with. ‘Okay Sheriff, we’re gonna fuck ya now. But we’re gonna fuck ya slow.'”

There’s no way video games are worse than porn. Yes video games CAN have an effect, but in most cases that person was fairly unhinged anyway and just needed an excuse. Like you said, porn alters peoples perception of what sex is supposed to be. We’re going to get a generation of kids thinking it’s normal to eat shit and vomit from a cup. Also, you don’t see people appearing on gaming sites after being promised a great hit of meth by a sleazy producer called Pepper Jack.

Define worse. Both are adult material best used in proper moderation by people who can handle the content. This debate is like asking is a chain saw or dynamite more dangerous. Both are extremely useful when put to work for their intended purposes by people who know how to use them, but both could sever your dick.

    That’s a hell of a metaphor JZ.

Video games vs. porn shouldn’t even be a debate. The mouthpieces on either side are missing the real issue, which is people losing touch with reality. Both video games and porn are a kind of fantasy world, which allow you to kill or fuck whoever you want, however you want in the comfort of your own home. Go too far into your fantasy world, and of course you’re going to have issues.

Neither porn nor video games are the actual problem. They just bring out the “reality detachment” in people who are susceptible to it and spend too much time with either one. I mean, I LOVE ice cream, but if I eat too much of it and get fat, is it the ice cream’s fault?

The hedgehog is probably just trying to fire up the sex vs. violence debate because there are plenty of parents out there who demonize porn but let their 8 year old kids go watch SAW IV.

There is definitely a double standard out there among some hypocritical parents.

I think JZ said it best.

Anyway, neither are really harmful per se. It’s when morons can’t handle them that it becomes a problem. Half of my life is dedicated to gaming and porn, and I’m a productive member of society.

That said, I think it’s far more likely that someone becomes addicted to porn than it is that a violent video game causes someone to do something violent.

I love both and I agree that both are pretty bad influences on the easily influenced. IMO in a perfect world, neither should be experienced by anyone under 16. It’s been documented time and time again that children absorb anything and everything they experience at a young age and even more so, they take it all in under the context it is given to them. Video games glorify violence and porn glorifies unrealistic sexual experiences. The younger the person the more out of touch with reality they will become when exposed to these materials. Violence will simply seem like another thing to do on the weekend and sex will be unfulfilling and unattainable when they get older.

Impressionable minds soak up everything in context. The younger the more impressionable.
