It’s a rarity to see grateful kids these days. That was great.

  2. Bryanon 26 Dec 2009 at 2:27 pm

Wow. Normally you’d hear “why didn’t I get blahblah game, too!” And the end, when the dad was saying you’re not sick, not in the hospital, wow again. The only person I saw get more excited was my 2.5 year old nephew, who had more fun helping everyone open their presents than the one’s he actually got. (Though my Nerf basketball hoop set was a huge success with him!)

If this kid was sick for a long time, way to go parents! He’ll remember this for a long, long time.

  3. Dresteron 26 Dec 2009 at 10:18 pm

Felt sorry for the girl until i realized is wasn’t Christmas but his Birthday.

  4. jrminton 26 Dec 2009 at 11:12 pm

Brought a tear to my eyes.

    What a good kid.

Nothing but blessings to you buddy.

  6. Sinnedon 27 Dec 2009 at 1:29 am

And this people. Is the benefit of beating your children every time they bitch, moan and throw a temper tantrum when they don’t get what they want

  7. Cynic-Xon 27 Dec 2009 at 1:34 am

That was sweet and touches my gamer heart.

This looks like a viral marketing plant.
Why are they opening the gifts by the TV and not the tree or menorah.
No decorations at all in the background.

  8. Neilon 27 Dec 2009 at 3:52 am

That’s nice, but wait until the poor kid is trying to pry the controller out of Dad’s iron grip, and Dad’s already been playing for 19 hours straight…

  9. yison 27 Dec 2009 at 4:15 am

That was simply awesome…that renewed my hope for this world!!

Wow! What a great kid, he really seems to appreciate it! Kudos!

  13. Simonon 27 Dec 2009 at 9:54 am

Great full? Pfff, the dad was yelling at the kid not to open the box or break it a dozen times.

I am sure the kid was afraid of the beating his over controlling dad was going to give him for “opening a box on his birthday”.

    Wake up people.

  14. Odinon 27 Dec 2009 at 10:04 am

After a month in XBox Live, you’ll see a big difference on those kids. ahahahah

  15. mr douglason 27 Dec 2009 at 10:05 am

whats up with the dad, “dont wreck the box!” nice to see the kid happy, but it looks to me like the pops is the gamer. hope the dad lets him play every once in awhile.

  16. bjbon 27 Dec 2009 at 10:17 am

cynic-x, if you watched to the end of the video it explains why there are no christmas decorations. it wasnt christmas. it was his birthday.

  17. Joeon 27 Dec 2009 at 10:29 am

What a great kid! Definitely touching!

  18. StonedOdieon 27 Dec 2009 at 10:32 am

Are You happy? “I’m Thrilled”.. Awesome, Such a nice kid. Good shit..

  19. Anonon 27 Dec 2009 at 10:54 am

“DON’T WRECK THE BOX” – What a prick.

Also we’re fed up of having videos a la Nintendo kid. They’re just boring now.

    mirite?

  20. Zi Felixon 27 Dec 2009 at 11:02 am

    Sadly, Odin’s correct. Deadly correct.

  21. wowon 27 Dec 2009 at 11:09 am

wow the best part was when the kid wanted to pay the dad back but the dad is like nawww its cool, that was so touching

  22. Kilroyon 27 Dec 2009 at 11:18 am

I think this video shhould be titled “A New Hope”

Then we can wait for the sequel is posted. The sequel where the kids balls like Niagara Falls when this Xbox get the Red Ring of Death (RRoD). That one should be named “The Emprire Strikes Back.”

  23. Klactoon 27 Dec 2009 at 1:11 pm

    @ Cynic-X

You’re obviously too dense to have picked up on the “he’ll never have another birthday like this.” & all the talk about him having terrible birthdays in the hospital in the past.

  24. blakeon 27 Dec 2009 at 2:29 pm

“and we get to keep it forever?” lol

  25. Chickieon 27 Dec 2009 at 2:45 pm

wow. made me cry. what a good kid to say ‘thank you so much.’ and hug his parents… no kids do that anymore. whats your Xbox handle sweetheart? let’s play some games =P

  26. Jasonon 27 Dec 2009 at 4:41 pm

You’ve got some sweet kids. You’re obviously doing something right.

  27. Bobbyon 27 Dec 2009 at 8:19 pm

Just wanted to say what a great kid you have and he does deserve it. I am a 34 year old male and I cried when I seen this way to go parents!

  28. cmurciaon 27 Dec 2009 at 10:00 pm

I just wish that this kid the RROD once starting the XBOX 360

  29. cmurciaon 27 Dec 2009 at 10:01 pm

I just wish that this kids gets the RROD once starting the Xbox 360

  30. Ilhomon 27 Dec 2009 at 10:45 pm

The dad was telling him don’t break the box because if something was wrong with their XBox or Halo stuff, they could simply return it without a wrecked box.
I like how people call the dad the prick even though what he says at the end… Seems like you people are the pricks.

  31. Rion1on 28 Dec 2009 at 1:15 am

The only concern I have is that usually when kids get introduced to playing games it turns them into the other type, The type you get on LIVE who call you homophobic slurs. Considering that was the Halo 3 collectors, I’d say the kid has been powering away on the 360 for a few years now. I hope he’s stayed that courteous and grateful.

Also, his little sister is adorable. Way to show excitement over Halo, little girl.

  32. Jennxsomethingon 28 Dec 2009 at 1:21 am

i dont undserstand. what was in the black square box? was it a playstation?

  33. Garym1968on 28 Dec 2009 at 3:09 am

Good job to his parents for raising such a good kid.

  34. T1mon 28 Dec 2009 at 4:32 am

That was pretty good… yes he was very grateful and I’m definitely glad he’s not in the hospital… but he’s not as grateful as the Nintendo 64 kid (remix)

  35. Richieon 28 Dec 2009 at 6:27 am

Well, if this guy has read up on the 360 at all, then his concern for the box is well noted. He probably wants to keep the box in case of the xbox breaking, then he can take it back. But A+ to the kid for being a one in a million grateful child.

  36. Megon 28 Dec 2009 at 1:14 pm

Oh my god, this was so cute and touching. I sniffled when he sounded so teary when he said “We can keep it forever?” and hugged his rents.

Stay sweet little dude, you’re adorable <333333

The most heartwarming video I’ve ever seen. It truley brought a tear to my eye. Thank you for posting this. Great kid. Great parents. Awesome video.

  47. Aaronon 31 Dec 2009 at 2:48 pm

So many people this the fact that just because “Christmas” is in the title it doesnt mean this is this past christmas or even christmas time… it clearly says it is his birthday

  48. Debon 01 Jan 2010 at 7:59 pm

How adorable! It is obvious that this little boy, despite his history of “yucky birthdays,” has learned to be grateful for what he knows cost his parents “a fortune!” How very sweet that he offered to help pay for it!

What an inspirational video! Yes, his parents had something to do with raising him to be appreciative. And his sister was a great cheerleader, too! How touching!

Thank you for shaing this! It sure gives me hope for our children!

hey everyone, it’s me, Nik’s dad. man, this thing is everywhere. thanks for all the nice things you guys have said.

it was his birthday, not Christmas. and nothing was “planted”. it was a surprise. he had a broken collar bone from playing goalie in a soccer game for the team i coached. a few years before that he had hand-foot-and-mouth for his birthday (sounds nasty, but isn’t too bad) and a few years before that he had fallen face first into a ceramic step in a house we were looking at buying and his teeth got shoved back up into his gums. This got infected and turned into cellulitus (sp? – inflammation of the soft tissues) and he was hospitalized for five days right after his birthday so… we wanted to make this birthday memorable for him. he really deserved it. and he really is this nice. don’t know how it happened, but he is the sweetest most empathetic kid you could ever meet. and he just LOVES Halo… still.

and at the end of the video he goes to his room to get me some money he had gotten for his birthday. here’s the original post: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7yKP9NQ4os&feature=PlayList&p=816E229C5B30E520&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=4

    thanks again.

HAHAHAHA i love the part that your father will be playing this too. He’s so excited but doesn’t think about his dad kicking him off or making him go to bed so Dad Can Play!!!!!! WIN!!
