Wiiwaa Further Proves the Wii is Just a Children’s Toy, But a Damn Good One

I’m actually pretty impressed with this video, which shows Wiiwaa from Zoink, a new game for the Wii that lets kids feed a Wiimote to a stuffed animal and then shake him around to make his character move, jump and dance onscreen. It shows a large amount of creativity of concept, but definitely furthers my point that the Wii is just not a video game system, and I don’t really think should even be compared to PS3 and 360 because of it.
Just because something uses a screen and a controller, I don’t believe that it counts as a “video game,” at least not in the traditional sense. Is Wii Yoga really a game because you’re standing on the controller and there’s a poorly rendered 3D person doing Yoga with you onscreen? I don’t think so. And though Wiiwaa looks fun for little kids, shaking around a physical stuffed animal to make a digitial animal do things on your TV is not a “video game.” I don’t quite know what to call it, voodoo?
That being said, expect this crap to sell out like crazy next Christmas.
