A Literal A to Z List of CGI Movie Characters

Published by at 12:00 pm under Lists,Movies

With all the talk about Avatar - which totally isn’t going to suck, by the way – I started thinking about how many CGI characters have appeared in movies over the last decade.  I mean, we’re at the point where not only are entire movies created using computer-generated imagry, but characters in live action movies, as well.  In fact, it’s quite common.

I decided to embark on a minor project to determine if, in fact, there have been enough CGI characters in movies to account for every letter of the alphabet.  I’m pleased to say that yes, I was able to come up with a list that does just that.  I had to be a bit liberal at times (would Buzz Lightyear fall under “B” or “L?”  I say, both!), but overall it’s a pretty complete list.  Take a look after the jump.

A is for Aki Ross from Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within

Q is for Quillo (one of the porcupines) from Over the Hedge

R is for Remy from Ratatouille

T is for Tyrannosaurus Rex from the Jurassic Park movies

U is for Unferth from Beowulf

V is for Velociraptors from the Jurassic Park movies

W is for WALL-E from WALL-E

X is for Professor X in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (sorry, I was unable to find a pic of the truly offensive CGI job)

Y is for Yoda in the Star Wars prequels

Z is for Zuba from Madagascar 2

Whew!  Can anyone make a list from A to Z using different CGI characters?  It can probably be done, but I’d be stumped on “Q” and “X.”

No, but I have a fun challenge/task/thing to do. I tried doing this last night.

Starting in Japan (using the song ‘I think I’m Turning Japanese’) work your way around the world using song titles that have the name of the next country along the route (i.e. the next song title would be ‘China Girl’, then ‘Back in the USSR’ and so on and so forth.)

It’s a fun game to kill some time.

I despise cats, but damn that picture of Puss in Boots melts my cold heart a little.

    @ James

That sounds very difficult. I was actually thinking of coming up with a list of movies with numbers in the title, from, say, 1-20. One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, The Two Towers, Three Men and a Baby, etc…

    Could be my next post!

    @ Laura

    Agree and agree.

Well, but the dinosaurs from Jurassic Park and I’m pretty sure Draco, they aren’t CGI, they are mostly robots.
