The Final Countdown: The Puppy Snooki Punch, Hottest Girl of 2009, and How to Train Your Dragon

So, somebody used dogs to recreate “Jersey Shore’s” famous Snooki punch.  In theory, I love the idea. Dogs and cats should be used to reenact everything from the moon landing to old episodes of “Dallas.”

The Coolest Fountain in the World: The Yoda Fountain

Published by under Images

Yoda

Call me crazy but why do I get the feeling that this is some kind of post apocolyptic deity or something?  Like if the world ended in 5 years and only dorks were left to rule the earth I’d be willing to bet there’d be Star Wars and Star Trek monuments all over the world.

My guess is that it would only take about another 5 years for the world to end again due to the conflicts between these two parties.  You know, kind of like the Sharks and the Jets but on a much larger scale.

In any event, this fountain is pretty badass.

Muse Presents: The Known Universe

Published by under Uncategorized

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPy0cEzUNgs

So everyone says that just because I’m a big fan of French and Japanese rap, that makes me have terrible taste in music, but one “normal” band I like, and the last concert I went to, is Muse.

As you’ll see in this video, their song, Exogenesis, just so happens to perfectly sync up with footage of “the known universe” like it’s Pink Floyd and the Wizard of Oz or something.

I like to believe if astronauts took off their helmets in outer space, this is the song they universe would sing to them right before their heads exploded.

Lego Battlecruiser Should Really Be Part of a Set

Published by under Images,Video Games

starcraft-battlecruiser.jpg

Come on, look at that thing! It’s awesome! And it’s even got mini Mutalisks to go along with it.

Blizzard really needs to license a Lego Starcraft set full of kits like this. The artist here, Jerac, used pieces from all over the Lego kingdom to assemble this behemoth with is 80 stud long and 60 stud wide! Is that big? I don’t know what that means. Is “stud” some secret part of the metric system I don’t know about?

Check out Jerac’s Flickr page for more pictures of the cruise. Build more man! I want to see a Carrier next.

It’s Time to Dismantle Comedy Central

Published by under Columns,Television

jon-stewart2.jpg

I came to a strange realization this week. With Stewart and Colbert on hiatus, and South Park shelved until whenever it decides to rear its head again for a few more episodes, Comedy Central, without those staples, is a truly awful channel. So bad in fact, that I think it’s time to dissolve the station once and for all, and let its few shining pieces move on to bigger and better channels where they can find wider audiences.

When you look at Comedy Central’s daily slate of programming, it’s been more or less the same for the better part of a decade.

The Difference Between Gaming and “Gaming”

Published by under Video Games,Videos

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCYPGnJdO1U

Shifting gears from Call of Duty to Monopoly is like trying to go from fifth gear to reverse on the freeway, as evidenced in this skit by sketch comedy group Reckless Tortuga (nice name!).

Granted, the guy is acting like an eight year-old on XBL, rather than a late twenty something, but I do suppose assholes come in all shapes and sizes. Unintentional pun!

Tortuga’s got some other decent videos as well, head to their YouTube page to check them out.

Dante’s Inferno Demo Makes Me Question the Effectiveness of Demos in General

Published by under Reviews,Video Games

dante_screen_gallery_post.jpg

I finally got around to testing out the Dante’s Inferno demo for the Xbox yesterday, and I wasn’t really impressed.  The terms “generic brawler” and “God of War clone” have been thrown around quite a bit by those who have played early versions or demos of this game, and I really have to agree with them.  That isn’t to say that I think the game will be awful – God of War isn’t a bad franchise to mimic, if you’re going to mimic one – but it’s really nothing new.  When Dante’s Inferno is released in February, I think it’s going to be a rental instead of a purchase for me.  In fairness, there are apparently lots of aspects to the game that can’t be gleamed from the demo, but if that’s the case, why even release a demo in the first place?

“That Guy” Actor of the Week: Jon Polito

Published by under Columns,Editorials

Polito

He’s known for his bald head and raspy voice but I’d be willing to bet you didn’t know his name was Jon Polito.  Well now you do!  I actually have a long history with Mr. Polito.  Way back in 1986 I can literally remember him in a tough guy role as a pseudo policeman/boss in a movie called Fire with Fire which was this wacky love story featuring a young Craig Scheffer and Virginia Madsen.  Polito’s character was a bully and kind of a badass who loved his gun.

Polito’s characters always tend to be kind of “dirty” which suits him well considering his build, voice, and overall demeanor.  He’s a staple in many Coen brothers movies and was of course in an episode of Seinfeld as a dirty landlord named Silvio.

On a side note, I saw Polito about 4 months ago in a supermarket here in NYC.  Unfortunately I didn’t hear him speak but I am 100% sure it was him.

Five Reasons Why Hot Rod is One of the Funniest Movies In the Last 3 Years

Published by under Movies

Hot Rod

Some of you may want to kill me for this title.  But any of you who enjoyed movies like Billy Madison can appreciate this article.  Hot Rod is one of the best comedies of the past three years and I have to share why that is.  I know movies like Knocked Up and Forgetting Sarah Marshall fall in this three year time period but just bear with me here.

Hot Rod consistently gets better each time I see it and if that’s not enough of a reason believe me, I will explain myself.  I personally believe that comedies just don’t exist like they used to.  Today it’s a lot of “shock value” and visual type comedy that granted is very funny but I don’t particularly think that random and hard to come up with.

I miss the days of totally weird references and stuff that makes you think “what the hell?” and then you laugh your ass off.  And I think Samberg and his boys nailed it with Hot Rod.

So you want to know why it’s so awesome?  Here you go….

The Morning Link: Awesome TV Freeze Frame Faces

Published by under Morning Link

Hills

Thanks to HDTV’s, we now know that most people on TV are just as physically flawed as the rest of us.

And thanks to DVR technology we know what people on TV probably look like when they’re passing a kidney stone, if they’ve just been given a heavy dose of morphine or caught in the middle of an intense orgasm.

In that light may we present 32 awesome TV freeze framed faces
