Superheroes in Famous and Political Wartime Scenes

Published by under Images

Super Hero

From Formatmag

Born in 1980 photographer and illustrator Agan Harahap from Jakarta, Indonesia, currently works for music magazine TRAX. His latest photography project called ‘Super Hero’ consists of memorable political and wartime scenes from the mid-20th century featuring beloved superheros like Spiderman or Batman in some interesting and funny positions – true juxtaposition in effect. It’s fun to see Superman standing in the Neuschwanstein Castle.

In other words, this guy did some pretty badass photoshopping and made it look like super heroes were in the middle of particularly awesome wartime photos.

And these are high quality pieces so you guys should be very happy.  Check ‘em out after the jump

Unreal Movie Review: Ninja Assassin

Published by under Movies,Reviews

ninja1.jpg

Ninja Assassin certainly delivers what it promises, and that is a shit ton of ninjas assassinating each other. Unfortunately, what we get is nowhere really near a movie, as it is martial arts stage show interspersed with a CGI team who is desperately trying, and failing, to render blood effects convincingly.

There is some semblance of plot, held together with strings as thin as razor wire. Through some very effective Googling, an agent in Interpol discovers that ninja assassins exist, and have been hired to kill people for over a thousand years. Understandably, the ninjas are not too pleased with this discovery, so they plan on lopping her head off before she can hit the send button on her email.

Fortunately for her, she’s saved by a rogue ninja, expelled from his clan because he didn’t like that they stabbed his girlfriend at ninja camp when he was a teenager, so he cut his master’s face in half. Turns out ninjas frown upon stuff like that.

A Gallery of Matrix Cosplay

Published by under Images,Movies

matr.jpg

I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving.  If you’re like me, you’re probably too full (and hungover) to move around right now.  Anyhow, when I was making my Top 15 science fiction movies list from a couple of days ago, I had a hard time placing Matrix: Reloaded.  I haven’t seen it in a long time – easily over a year – but I do remember it quite well, and I do remember loving it after I had seen it in the theater.  I know that a lot of people dislike and even loathe this movie, but whatever.  I think there’s more than enough action, style, story, and depth.  Of course it’s not as good as its predecessor, but that’s a real tough act to follow.  Maybe one of these days I’ll write an analysis of the film and defend praise it on its merits.

In the meantime, though, enjoy this gallery of Matrix cosplay.

The Morning Link: Hand Print Art Way more Badass Than a Turkey

Published by under Morning Link

Finger Art

Around this time each year, art teachers ask students to turn their hand print into a turkey that looks like a peacock that’s been crippled by its own fat ass.

Why not let them choose what they turn their hand prints into? Sure, you might get a few idiotic variations on “The Blob with 5 Wangs,” but you’d also learn which students are the right kind of idiots, which is really an art teacher’s only job.

Check out these 25 badass hand print art pictures

A Collection of Funny Wii Commercials

Published by under Video Games

Wii

In the competitive world of gaming, companies have to come up with interesting ad campaigns to both keep existing customers as well as reel in new ones.  And I have to admit that Nintendo is quite good at doing this.   After all, these guys have been in business for over thirty years.

Part of the allure?  Comedy.  Comedy is one of the best sales tactics out there and Nintendo uses it as well as anyone.

So in that same vane, let us take a look at a collection of funny Wii commercials for your enjoyment

The Morning Link: The Funniest Priceless Photos of All Time

Published by under Morning Link

Priceless

It’s amazing what most people are willing to do for money. Some people are willing to get married and do naughty naked things with ugly old people for money while other willing to do jobs that require actual hard work for money… it’s sickening.

I’ve also heard there are people who are willing to degrade themselves in public by dumping an entire plate of Mexican food down their shirt at a fancy Mexican restaurant for ten dollars.

And clearly these things are priceless.

The Wachowski Brothers know that after a hardy Thanksgiving meal of turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce, the last thing you’ll want to digest is a dense plot dripping in the thick gravy of emotion. That’s why Ninja Assassin is pure dessert….
