Celebrating Glorious, Wonderful, Brutal Video Game Violence
As expected, there’s been a lot of talk and debate about the horrific violence in Modern Warfare 2. Will impressionable kids become desensitized to violence and, in turn, commit heinous acts of violence against their communities? And if so, are the creators of the video games to blame? Of course not. Video games that are saturated with violence are made for adults, so it’s up to the parents to keep an eye on what their kids are playing.
But enough of stating the obvious. Personally, I love violence in video games. And instead of being appalled by it, I think it should be celebrated. After all, if we can’t escape to video games to become someone else - even if that someone else is a brutal killer - then where else can we undergo a cathartic massacre?

These were the most violent games I could think of. If there are any other ultra-violent games, let me know in the comments section. I’m sure there have got to be a few.
In the meantime, I’m off to play violent video games, followed by committing savage murders and taking none of the responsibility for it. It’s the American way!

It’s a good thing violence didn’t exist until ColecoVision had to go and break our violence cherry. Dammit, if only Tiberus didn’t buy Caligula Grand Theft Auto 3! Cambodian’s rue the day that Pol Pot played de_dust. If Medal of Honor wasn’t released we never would have had that pesky second World War…
Perhaps the problem is that the violent members of society aren’t joining in the military and taking their propensity for violence to foreign lands…naw, that can’t be it.
When I first played Pray I thought it was pretty bloody, and I just loved how you could hear kids being tortured in the background. It was one of the first times I really remember thinking: ‘damn this game is bloody’, but maybe it doesn’t exactly fit your criteria. I never finished that game actually… *runs off to do so now* thanks for reminding me!

Not sure if you follow the news stream…but did you hear that our good buddy Hugo Chavez in Venezuela BANNED all video games with any violence in them to help curb that nations violence?
A.Their silly little socialist nation is ripe with poverty, I highly doubt kids are playing Fallout 3 on a 52inch plasma.
B. Venezuela is the number 1 supplier of Cocaine to Europe, Italy has traced 41% of the nations cocaine shipments back to Venezuela…Does drug trafficking and violence go hand and hand? I never got around to watching Scarface….
C. It stinks of a whole, don’t pay attention to the guy behind the curtain, kinda deal. Don’t address corrupt law enforcement, high levels of poverty, a flourishing hard-drug trade,(Whoever heard of a pot dealer doing anything more malicious than forgetting to tip the pizza man?) government controlled mass media, or a lack of a decent public school system. Pin it all on the fact that your huddled masses enjoy head-shotting some noobs.

Simply amazing, right? Just once, I’d like to see a shred of evidence (and anecdotal doesn’t count) suggesting that violent games lead to real-life violence.
I’m searching for that SNES (or dreamcast or whatever… it got lot of visible pixels) game, where the little boy has to defeat shadows or darkness while wandering through a lot of caves, dying cruel deaths, whenever a freaking shadow got him… Anyone knows, what I mean?
Heart of Darkness! It is underrated in terms of sheer violence and gore that it has. Check it out and you will see.

there is a video on youtube that proves if the violence in a video game is taken away it isnt more fun, i dont know that cause of the whole L4D2 thing in australia, cant imagen that game without blood. i agree with it being the parents decision
