Leaked ‘Halo Reach’ Screenshots Are Here

Take a gander at this collection of screenshots allegedly from Halo Reach, at least until Bungie yells at me to take them down. They feature a bunch of new-ish guns for the uber-secret game, which appears to be what I would imagine Halo 4 would look like. But if that’s the case, why would they not just be calling it that? Also, the game is supposed to be using a new engine, for whatever reason, and it shows. If these are fake, they’re pretty damn well forged, I’ll say that much.

Check out the rest of the pictures below, while you still can.

    Is that a needler rifle? Whoa…

  2. illeaturfamilyon 06 Nov 2009 at 2:02 pm

    @madison - that’s what i was thinking. its like a needler/plasma rifle combo.

    if these are indeed real then this all makes me wonder how the hell these things get leaked. i would imagine that these photos were taken from someone who works at bungie. am i wrong in thinking that? further, if that is the correct assumption, then you can go on to ask the question of why the hell would this person be stupid enough to put these photos anywhere near the intarwebs?

    i dunno. someone please correct me if im wrong here cause i actually do want to know where leaked media comes from.

    by the way, the game looks sweet and the settings/areas look badass.

    It’s not Halo 4 because it is about The Fall of Reach, thus being called Halo Reach. The main Halo series (1-3) features John-117, while the other games (Reach, Wars, etc.) don’t feature him.

    Oh, and this takes place years before Halo:CE, so why would they call it Halo 4?

    why call it halo 4? well there is metal gear solid 3, which is before the first game, devil may cry 3 which is also before the fisrt game

    and i dont know, im not big fan of halo, but this look pretty easy to obtain, maybe is a viral publicity

    Leaked photos/info are easy. Guy/gal on project sends email to friend saying “Check out this cool stuff”. 2 seconds later on the web. This is why my only friend is an illerate monkey in my backyard.

    @Josh

    if it is the fall of reach then it is not set years before Halo CE. the actual Fall of reach was what led The pillar of autumn to evac with the Spartans. so really its days or maybe even hours before CE. and Reach most likely will Feature Master Chief along with the other Spartans. after all it was there training grounds.

    exactly. infact, some spartans were still on the surface of reach, helping what was left of the UNSC military force on the planet to fight off covenant as they were looking for more of their precious forerunner artifacts, when halo 1 was taking place. so actually, not all spartans left reach after the covenant invasion; basically just the master chief did. however i could be wrong on that detail since its been years since iv read the books.

    yeah Eric your right but i think spartan Linda was also aboard the pillar of autumn but she was in cryo sleep due to injuries or something but she was jettisoned of the autumn in the tube along with some other tubes on a moon i think. them master chief found her and the greatest black man in existence…Johnson.

    In regard to the time period this game takes place, it is about the Fall of Reach. Looking at the official trailer, you can tell it’s when all the SPARTANS make a last stand to defend their home (Earth is not where they grew up; they trained on Reach for most of their childhood). Once again, you are playing a silent protagonist; however, it will not be another one-man army game. Instead, it is a squad-based game; whether that means you can command a squad of SPARTAN IIs or you’re just one of the members of such a cell remains to be seen.

    In regard to the new weapons: yes, that IS a needle-rifle. That, along with the new “Assault Rifle” and the Battle Sniper (I think that’s what it’s called) is just one of the perks of being a SPARTAN who is NOT aboard a ship stocked with only the basics. (The Pillar of Autumn, Halo: CE.) However, the grenade set will not include the Spike Grenade or Incendiary Grenades, as the Brutes were not discovered by the Covenant until after the first Halo was destroyed.

    Finally, the enemies. I don’t know if Bungie is introducing a ‘new’ species for us to fight before they mysteriously disappear for the rest of the Halos, but I DO know that Elites (Sangheili) will be the primary enemies, along with Jackals (Kig-Yar), Grunts (Unggoy), and (perhaps) the Flood. However, I doubt the last one; the books don’t mention the Flood until the so-titled 2nd book that is based on the first game.
