Moon mining for Helium 3 that’s the only original and new thing in this movie.

A clone escaping to earth – Blade Runner

A clone with a short life span – Blade Runner

Having a computer run a mission with a hidden agenda – 2001

People from Earth coming to get you with a count down at
an outer space mining station – Outland

Solitude with only a machines – Silent Running

Seeing things in outer space when your alone – Solaris

Identical clones arguing and working together – Multiplicity

Even Sam’s moonbuggy is a design copy of the PC game
moonbuggy my kids and I play.

A guy with a rich and famous Dad puts together a miss mash
of old scifi movies themes in a movie set on the moon.

That’s not an original concept.

George Lucas took us to a galaxy far far away and
provide a space movie without a mention about Earth.

That’s truly an original theme.

As a scifi fan, I have seen better movies from the 50′s, 60′s 70′s
and 80′s.

Solaris was well made and had better music. Not like Moon at all musically. They’re both brilliant films, though.

Yeah it does have a lot in common with Solaris, only it’s much better and there’s no magical cosmic mumbo jumbo.

You forgot to mention the amount of similarities between this and the newest Solaris. The clones and not to mention the soundtrack being almost identical…

Interesting that you point out the lack of a secret backstabber. GERTY was such an obvious hat tip to HAL 9000, I expected it to turn on Sam the entire movie…Nice that it didn’t.

I been waiting for this to come out in the theaters. Somehow I missed it. I never saw a ad for it on TV at all. When is it coming out on DVD.
