TV Destroyed by Wiimote in Live Home Shopping Broadcast
I’ve heard arguments back and forth about whether or not this video is real, but I’m leaning toward yes, it is. At 5:05 in the video, the demonstration dude, plays some Wii Tennis, but the shitty plastic tennis attachment flies off the Wiimote and breaks the TV, something that I can easily see happening without being staged. The fact that this video is padded by nine minutes of actual selling of the Wii and aforementioned shitty accessories makes me think it’s even more real.
The only experience I’ve had like this was bowling with my friend the night he got his Wii. He had the strap on, but didn’t realize you had to tighten it, and he launched his Wiimote straight into the ceiling where it magically didn’t break, but left a nice little hole that was there until we moved out.
Also, this video makes me realize just how NOT a video game system the Wii is. Can you imagine HSN selling a PS3 today, or a Super Nintendo a long time ago? This thing is a toy. Granted a toy for the whole family that utilizes the TV and “controllers,” but a toy nonetheless.

1. I say it’s real.
2. Agree on the Wii – it’s a video game console/toy for people who don’t play video games.

Also, all consoles are for people who don’t really play games:

Ok, so the Wii is a toy, but you know, now I can play some video games with my fiance and slowly ease her into the world of real games. After a few months now she gets the difference between a good game and a crappy one. Thanks Nintendo!
so is it real or not?
Eh, who cares?
Definitely looks real – I’ve seen LCD monitors fall off walls and break. I’ve also seen them take hits. The reaction of the screen is very accurate, so if this isn’t real, it was faked by someone who knew exactly what a damaged LCD looks like.
