Ranking the Farrelly Brothers Movies

Farrelly Brothers movies

It’s the kind of humor that I personally think can’t really be duplicated.  There’s a sense of awe whenever you see a Farrelly Brothers movie.  Basically what I’m saying is that there’s usually a 100% chance that you’ll see something you’ve never seen before when seeing something from the Farrelly Brothers.

Whether it’s someone’s testicles that they actually show, or an old person getting naked, to even going as far as making fun of mental retardation, these guys do NOT pull out the stops.

There’s no shame, a solid shock factor, and it’s usually worth seeing.

Here, I’ll attempt o rank the Farrelly Brothers movies, none of which are bad

8.  Shallow Hal

Farrelly Brothers movies

Of all their movies, this is the worst but certainly not a bad movie.   It’s back when Jack Black wasn’t so famous thus him being much funnier.   And despite Jason Alexander having a terrible role, he’s actually pretty funny with the hair plugs and all.

7. Stuck on You

Farrelly Brothers movies

Personally I love when Matt Damon is in a comedy.  Considering how awesome a serious actor he is, it’s always great to see the guy loosen up.  Plus Greg Kinnear is a solid actor, not to mention Eva Mendes is at her hottest in this movie.  Definitely some funny moments in this movie.

6. The Heartbreak Kid

Farrelly Brothers movies

This is a sheer shock factor movie.  I really think it easily could have been rated NC-17.  P.S. Carlos Mencia is hilarious in this movie.  Not to mention Jerry Stiller.

5. Outside Providence

Farrelly Brothers movies

I had to put this movie in here.  No, the Farrelly’s didn’t direct this movie but it was written by one of them and that’s enough for me.  This is Alec Baldwin’s forray into the hilarious man that he is today. “Dildo.”

4.  Me, Myself and Irene

Farrelly Brothers movies

Jim Carrey used to be funny!  This however, was like is last hoorah.  But a great hoorah it was.  Even though I can’t stand Zellweger in ANYTHING, Carrey’s sons were enough to carry this film.

*The next two could be in either order.

3.  There’s Something About Mary

Farrelly Brothers movies

I’m pretty sure that with the exception of American Pie, no theater was as shocked at a comedy as in There’s Something About Mary.  I’m mean the picture above was a ridiculous scene and the “twigs and berries” scene will be immortalized in comedy genius.

2. Kingpin

Farrelly Brothers movies

Bill Murray’s hair, period.   Randy Quaid shitting on the urinal.  Period.  Woody Harrelson’s horrible bowling form and an appearance by Roger Clemens.  What an incredible movie.

1.  Dumb and Dumber

Farrelly Brothers movies

Anyone who doesn’t think Dumb and Dumber is the best Farrelly Brothers movie is 100% wrong and I’m not even discussing it.

As long as you’ve got Dumb & Dumber at #1, I got no problems with your rankings. Well done.

Thank you!!! I applaud you…people constantly bash The Hearbreak Kid but hardly anyone has seen it and it definitely does not fail for laughs…and i quote “Let me rephrase the question. You been crushin’ any pu**y?” …I dont think anyone could deliver that line as good as Jerry Stiller

Dumb and Dumber is one of those movies that if I’m ever clicking around looking for something to watch and it’s on I can not change the channel! As funny as the big jokes are in this one it’s the little things that get me everytime.

Classic example: When Lloyd pulls up behind Harry in that scooter thing he traded the ‘Shaggin’Wagon and almost wipes out, good times. Another would be when Harry’s hands are freezing after they get to Aspen and Lloyd takes off one of his pairs of gloves as his hands are sweaty….awesome.

Love the list, but what do you mean by “these guys do NOT pull out the stops”? That’s like saying they keep things quiet, subtle, subdued. Given you had just mentioned testicles and retardation, I don’t think that’s what you meant.

Just being a stickler, I guess.

Gotta love Danny McBride in Heartbreak Kid, “Miranda, we are ready to play parcheesi! “

Twigs and berries? Don’t you mean “franks and beans?”

I thought Roger Clemens was in Dumb and Dumber, not Kingpin

Cam Neely, not Roger Clemens, was in Dumb and Dumber as Seabass

I love this list for Dumb and Dumber. I’m the same with that movie as Cheryl, I love the little touches in it. It seems like there’s something new to laugh about every time I see it. My favorite part has to be where Lloyd calls timeout from the cane fight as they arrive at the dinner, and then Harry lays into the back of his legs. I crack up just thinking about it.

I agree with the ranking of most of these, but #6?

I don’t know, but you lost some credibility when you called Carlos Mencia funny…

I think Kingpin and Dumb and Dumber are tied for that #1 spot…
