Did Anyone Like “Couples Retreat?” Because Plenty Paid For It
According to Variety
Audiences fell hard this weekend for the winning combo of Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau, with Universal’s “Couples Retreat” earning a surprisingly buoyant $35.3 million at 3,000 playdates
Look, I understand that Vince Vaughn is just going to play Vince Vaughn for the rest of his career so I’m sure that “Couples Retreat” has plenty of redeeming lines. And I know I haven’t seen the movie yet but come on. You don’t think this is just a bunch of stars from other successful comedy movies having a blast?
Like, they didn’t really write a script did they? Was this movie even directed? I’m pretty sure it was the cast getting drunk for the duration of the shooting.
And look how stale Favreau and Vaughn look. It’s a long ways away from Mikey and Trent which is what made these guys. For whatever reason I just don’t think I’m going to see this movie. I’d rather just rewatch The Heartbreak Kid, Swingers, Starsky and Hutch, Made, and Forgetting Sarah Marshall
However, if you guys tell me otherwise I’ll give it a shot.

Nevermind the movie just look at the girl in the middle and her right arm. I mean WTF?

[…] Couples Retreat led the box office this weekend, raking in $35.3 million. However, if Transformers 2 has taught us anything, it’s that the relationship between good movies and box office success can sometimes be inversely proportional. With the Swingers duo of John Favreau and Vince Vaughn teaming up again to write a comedy, I figured that even if it’s a romantic comedy, Couples has the potential to be very funny. I couldn’t have been more wrong, and Couples Retreat is about as vanilla and stale a comedy as I can remember seeing. Keep reading for the full review. I’d warn you of spoilers, but honestly, there’s just nothing to spoil. […]
