The Hardest Decision You’ll Ever Have to Make

I saw this today and thought it was pretty damn funny. And true. I’m the type of guy that when playing ANY game that requires you to pick a race, class or style at the beginning of a game, I will quite literally sit there for half an hour stressing out about it, before finally consulting the internet to see what the best possible choice could be. You could say I’m not exactly a risk taker. Does anyone else do this or is it just me?
In Pokemon it was slightly easier because from the moment I saw him on the box, I knew I wanted the damn fire breathing dragon that was on the cover. HOWEVER, the worst part about Pokemon was that they let you nickname your Pokemon something. This is a great idea for an eight year old, but I’ll be damned if 20 hours later I wasn’t sick of the name “Flamey.”

I must have spent at least an hour customizing my character in Oblivion.
I remember the first time I played Pokemon. My brother and I bought a copy each and he had the Red version. This meant that I had to pick the turtle since we couldn’t both have the same thing.
In hindsight, I think I liked the turtle more even after the umpteenth time replaying that game.
An hour? That’s nothing. Any game that let’s me do any kind of character customization often ends up with me dividing my time rather evenly between researching my options, creating my character, and actually PLAYING the game. And enjoying every minute of all three of them.
RPG’s like Final Fantasy bring out the neurotic side of me!
Every time I’m in a storydriven dungeon you know you will not be able to come back to this place. The fear, that I may forget some item makes me go CRAZY!
Like in FF9, there are at least exclamation marks above the character saying *these is something* when you stand in the right spot. In FF7, there is like infinite amount of storyline, lots of dungeons and there is not even an idication for items lying around. Especially the final weapons are all hidden on purpose! wtf? Like 5 hour’s into the game you have to look into some random wardrobe in the shinra building to find Cait Sith’s final weapon, a character you don’t even meet like 30 hours into the game. Cloud even says “I don’t know what this is?” and later the game gives you the option to not take it. Waaaahhh!
Or barrets last weapon lies on a stairway with a handrail infront it, so you can’t see it. Hence in this game you have to run around hitting (X) all the time ^^
Of I get mad in (mostly old) games where you can loose assential items and then never be able to finish the game not knowing it. Like in maniac mansion, there is Carnivorous Plant and you might feed it all the items you have in hope it grows or something.
I don’t like the naming thing too. But to quote FF once again: In FF9 on the last CD you can meet some wizard on a secret island who changes your character names, if you want to ^^
I’m with you Paul. I freak out when deciding what character/class to choose. Thankfully in WoW you can pretty much start a new char whenever you want, but I remember taking at least an hour to read through all the side/race/class options before finally starting a human warrior, which was a terrible, terrible first choice haha.
