Live Action ‘Halo 3: ODST’ Trailer Will Kick Your Ass, Heart

Why heart? Because after watching this, you’ll be desperately sad that the Halo movie fell through and is currently sitting in the “when will it see the light of day” bin. I’m not sure what the budget was on this minute and a half long commercial, but it couldn’t have been that much, yet the results are spectacular.
I was particularly impressed with how decently the Brute was rendered, though I have my doubts about the pervasive CGI that would populate an actual Halo fillm. But hot damn do I wan them to try now.

When I saw this, I couldn’t help but think how awesome a Halo movie could be, as well. The Neil Blommkamp short films on Xbox LIVE were similar in tone. It’s unfortunate that the Jackson/Blommkamp collaboration on Halo fell through, but we did get the excellent District 9 out of it, so there is something to be thankful for.
With any luck, there will be renewed interest in it, and they can do something great with it. If they take this trailer and the short films as inspiration, there is hope for a decent movie.
