I think Josh brings up a really good point, specifically, that Disney ownership did nothing to curb the creative aspects of Mirimax films.

That said, I’m still very skeptical. ESPN is the more unbearable network on TV, and that all started with the Disney buyout.

@Drester: Please read my last comment. Dogma is one of the filthiest movies of all time (Hell, Kevin Smith gave us the Shit Monster in that film) and it was made by a Disney owned film. We should be good

Quit overreacting. Pixar only became better when it was bought out by Disney. Mirimax was bought out by Disney in 1993 and proceeded to release Pulp Fiction, Trainspotting, Dogma, Jay And Silent bob Strike Back, Kill Bill, 40 Days and 40 Nights, etc. Disney has hardly touched Mirimax at all.

I’m not happy with this news, for the very reason that I doubt we’ll get a Marvel superhero movie as dark and serious as The Dark Knight. I mean, have you seen what Disney has done to SportsCenter? It’s unfrigginwatchable.

Actually a part of it DOES make sense. Imagine combining the writers at Pixar with a Marvel character and you might get a Marvel superhero movie that might come close to a Nolan-esque film. The potential is there but I’ll reserve judgment for a couple years.
