‘Bad Boys 3′ - Yay or Nay?

Well, well. Here’s a franchise I didn’t think we’d be coming back to any time soon. I appreciate Bad Boys as much as the next idiotic Michael Bay explosionfest. It’s a series made bearable by Smith and Lawrence’s banter, but I’m definitely not clamoring for more. But someone at Columbia got the bright idea in their heads to greenlight the writing of a new script, even though the last film only made $128 mil.

But just because there will be a script, that doesn’t mean this will for sure see the light of day. For the project to be truly in the Bad Boys spirit you need Bruckheimer, Bay, Smith AND Lawrence. The only one of those likely to come cheap? Lawrence, and even he probably costs more than he used to. Meanwhile, Smith can play his card as the most “bankable actor in Hollywood” and demand $20M for even a phoned in performance.

I say can it. How about you?

I say make it. Smith and Bay combined nowadays is guaranteed to make 300 million stateside and who knows how much else.

Plus… Bad Boys II is what inspired Hot Fuzz. If we need a Bad Boys III to make a Hot Fuzz II, I am all for it.

Bay and Lawrence are intolerable. If this movie gets made, I won’t be seeing it.
