“The Goods: Live Hard Sell Hard” Gets Bad Reviews: Gee, That’s Surprising

Goods

Wait a second.  Please don’t tell me that anyone was actually pumped up to see this.  The trailers alone give away how bad this thing was going to be.  “Yay let’s beat up the Asian guy because of Pearl Harbor!”

I mean come on.   There seems to be absolutely nothing redeeming about this movie.  And yes, I’m saying that completely based on the cast and well…the cast.

David Koechner?  Come on.  He was half decent in waiting but the guy isn’t really funny.  I mean if you give him a manly beer gut role he’s sort of decent, but when you allow him more than 30 minutes of screen time you know you’re screwed.

Piven?  Let him just play Droz in PCU 2 or be John Cusack’s best friend if he’s gonna do film again.  Otherwise I suggest the dude sticks to Ari and milks it for as long as he possibly can.

Someone please tell me why this movie is half worth seeing.  Oh yeah, because it’s being advertised on our website!

Hmm, I didn’t think this movie was going to be an award winner or anything. But, being a sales guy myself (not used cars mind you) I thought it would at least be worth a watch.

Maybe I’ll save the $15 and just watch Glenngary Glenn Ross again.

It’s going to be one of those movies like Hot Rod…most will hate it, it will get bad reviews, but the people who love it will LOVE it.

I’m definitely going to give it a shot. I think I’m going to like it – the Ving Rhames line in the preview kills me every time.

And really, you should know better than to judge a comedy based on its reviews:

It’s got Ken Jeong, David Koechner (I love his roles), Ed Helms (who has been hilarious in absolutely everything he has done, especially The Hangover and The Office), Rob Riggle, Jeremy Piven (who I rather enjoyed in Old School and Rocknrolla), and a small role from Will Ferrell. I’m willing to give it a chance. I likely won’t see it in theaters but I will watch it when it comes out on DVD

  • Name required, indeed!

Just back from an afternoon viewing. I saw it on my (paid) lunchbreak and still felt kind of ripped off. Just wasn’t that funny; the theater was half-full and not an audible laugh to be heard.

All of these (varying) levels of talent, wasted on such shoddy writing.

    3 out of 10 stars

This was the most horrid film I think I’ve ever seen in my life. It is the very first film I ever walked out on, but then again, it’s not really the movie I went to see. We only purchased the tickets to get a two for one special at the movies and it was the only one we could realistically buy tickets for by the time we got there. I didn’t expect much really, but this film went way below what I even expected of it. I was cringing in my seat within minutes. Who financed this project? I actually found myself thinking about Barbra Streisand and her reaction to seeing this with the husband, wondering how in the world she would have allowed him to be in this God-awful film. It’s cliche and crass with no redeeming qualities. Awful, awful, awful!

Anytime a movie begins to release TV promos a week or so prior to its release date, that’s a sign that it sucks.
