‘The Lovely Bones’ Trailer is Actually Surprisingly Lovely

Published by Paul Tassi at 12:00 pm under Movies, Trailers

Yesterday we caught the preview for the preview of the new Peter Jackson adaptation of the best-selling book, The Lovely Bones. Today, courtesy of Apple who had the trailer exclusively for all of five seconds until someone put it on YouTube, we have the real thing.

Even though I said the movie “sounded like a Lifetime Original production,” with the debut of the actual trailer I think it looks pretty stunning. It’s like meets Mystic RiverWhat Dreams May Come, and the rendering of the dead girl’s “personal heaven” are simply stunning, and it’s probably worth seeing the film on a visual basis alone, if for no other reason.

As for the story? Dead girl solves murder mystery from grave via Mark Wahlberg? Still questionable, and I haven’t read the book but I’m guessing the killer they show in the trailer is a Red Herring. The creepy pedo-looking guys with glasses and mustaches usually are.

Lovely Bones will be out this December, but I will be too busy seeing Avatar for the tenth time.

    “This video has been removed”

Can you link the Apple video or are there rules against that?

New one is up. Until it gets killed.

I don’t know what the goddamn point is of hunting down all these trailers that get ripped to YouTube. It’s like trying to stamp out every ant in an anthill, you’re never going to win and will just piss off all the other ants.

That’s no red herring. I read the book, and he’s one messed up dude.

I don’t get it either. I guess some people just want to see ants suffer.

I’m going to reserve judgment on this one until I’ve seen. It could really go either way, but the trailer eluded to a little more boo hoo’in than I like to see in a film.

    Yeah, he’s no red herring.
But also, it’s sort of a unsuspecting story.
Haha, this is no lifetime original movie! I hate that damn channel!

I’ve been waiting for this for so long! It has to be amazing!

Stupid apple, you have enough money.
