Orphan to Possibly Become Cult Classic? Man, That’s Sad

Published by Nattyb at 12:30 pm under News

Orphan

From Slashfilm
Over the last two weeks, the oft-profane buzz around Orphan on Twitter and elsewhere, alongside a surprising 7.1 rating on IMDB, and enthusiastic genre reviews, now suggest the makings of a cult horror flick. Word-of-mouth about the ending and my kooky, inexplicable obsession with the movie’s titular character, Esther, finally lead me to check it out. It was worth it.

Spoiler Ahead

Was it really worth it?  How is this possible?  It’s a laugher.  A complete laugher.  I can understand stuff like The Ring becoming cult classics but Orphan?   Dude, she’s a woman.  That’s it.  Sure it’s kind of weird and all.  Her behavior is kind of interesting and scary.

But to say this movie might become a cult classic really shows me where films have gone.  I mean come on guys.

What do you guys think?

It’s a stupid, silly, preposterous movie, but I was never bored and I guess I enjoyed the experience. I felt like I got my money’s worth, which is saying a lot these days.

I could see it as a cult movie in the sense that it’s ridiculous and could make for a great drinking game, not because it’s some great film or anything like that.

Lol, and no spoilers here, because I only saw ther trailer and my first reaction was; “So, she’s a tiny grown-up, right?” And then I went “Please God make it not be the uptenth cult-movie wannabe with a scary child protagonist..”

Guess that’s two birds in one blow..

I agree Madison. But I think the scary thing is that they’re suggestion the latter, not the former.

Wow, Nattyb. You’re a fucking dick-head. Why would you spoil the movie for no reason at all?

  5. Sarcastoson 04 Aug 2009 at 5:59 pm

He spoils the movie because he’s taking himself/the movie to seriously and thinks his opinion is cared about.
Only when he writes something interesting or meaningful will anyone but his mother care about his thoughts.

    @Sarcastos

What, do you have a PhD in psychology?

And I care about his thoughts, and I sure ain’t his mother. His dad, maybe, though…

way to ruin the ending, shitface. Now i have to think twice before clicking an unreality link. what an idiot.

Not a very good move, basically ruining the movie for anybody who has yet to see it.

At least it got you 95% more comments than usual, right?

    Idiot.

ps. it took you all of 5 minutes to write this trite article, but it only took my 4 seconds to delete my unrealitymag.com Bookmark.

did you edit this? i swore i read it all and got the ending spoiled… i don’t remember seeing a “spoiler alert” when it was first posted.

    Christ your readers are snippy.

I reckon a little perspective is called for here.

If the fact that you read this spoiler was the worst thing to happen to you on that day, then perhaps you might consider yourself lucky.

    Is it really that important?

Yea, Seriously… You’ve got some extremely sensitive and emotional readers. Why the hell are they on your site reading about a movie without considering a possible spoiler alert? Anyways, I haven’t seen the movie yet, and prefer a good spoiler alert to find out if it’s worth watching anyways.

If it’s got some Dumb twist ending or gay plot at the end, I’ll wait till it comes out on DVD. They should have a SpoilerAlert.com or something so I can see if a movie is worth it or not. Doesn’t ruin a damn thing for me. Good Articles so far by the way!
