Sorry Percy Jackson, You’re Not Harry Potter

Every movie site under the sun has picked up the new teaser trailer for Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief, so I figured I’d be a lemming and join in. It’s a project from director Chris Columbus, who helmed Home Alone and the first two Harry Potter movies.
The story goes that a kid finds out he’s descended from the gods (as in the Greek gods) and according to the trailer, takes the Empire State elevator to floor omega to pay his relatives a visit. Who knew that the Greek gods lived over central Manhattan?
I’m just going to go ahead and assume this is some book series I’ve never heard of, and whatever, that’s fine. Sure it’s no Harry Potter, but by default it’s already better than Twilight.

I’ve flushed shit down the toilet that was more enjoyable to watch than Twilight.
My girlfriend reads these books and from what she’s told me, they seem really cool. I mean, it’s essentially Harry Potter with Greek mythology, but I love Greek mythology. Zeus, Poseidon, centaurs, etc…it all makes for good stories. All the gods are given distinct personalities that are pretty consistent with what I learned in school.
Pretty sure it’ll be a hit, and it’s nice that it’s at least sort of educational.
I teach middle school language arts. A lot of the boys are reading this series. It’s not bad at all. At least it keeps them steeped in classical mythology. They weren’t as lucky to grow up with reruns of Clash of the Titans.

Agree. I’m so SICK about Twilight. Many people says that Twilight are better than Harry Potter. Those people are dumb. Many books are better than Twilight, many books are more DESERVED to be the new Harry Potter, like Percy Jackson. I like Percy Jackson and Harry Potter!
Hey, diss Twilight all you want, but Percy Jackson is actually really cool. The movie may not have been the greatest but the books are freakin’ awesome! And so is the authors new book kind of like them but with Egyptian Gods and Godesses. Well worth reading.
