Batman 3, M:I 4, Indy 5 Rumors, Facts and Speculation

Big news for three major franchises, so big I decided to make it all one post.

- Rumor has it that Chris Nolan isn’t feeling Batman 3, and might not be back for the project. Allegedly Ledger’s death hit him really hard, and the plan was always to have the Joker come back for the next movie. And I’m sure those Eddie Murphy as the Riddler rumors aren’t doing anything to help.

Likelihood of happening (10%) - Warner Bros.will end up throwing so much money at him he’ll be forced to make a sequel. Right now I think he’s just concentrated on Inception, and he’ll worry about Bats 3 later.

- Tom Cruise and J.J. Abrams have reunited to start planning another Mission Impossible sequel. I’m pretty sure that absolutely no one except Tom Cruise has been asking for this, and I’m really wondering how he managed to sell this to Abrams. So far there don’t seem to be any plot details whatsoever, and I’m not convinced this will actually end up getting made.

Likelihood of happening (60%) - I mean this is technically an official announcement, but I  don’t trust Tom Cruise to not to something crazy to derail this somewhere along the line

- Shia LeBeouf says that Spielberg and Lucas have hammered down a concept for another Indiana Jones movie, meaning the read enough history books to find another artifact for him to hunt. Again, no one is really asking for this, but the real question is, how can Lucas start pumping out Indy movies left and right now, and not even try and any more Star Wars  installments?

Likelihood of happening (80%) - Indy 4 made all sorts of cash, so a sequel is inevitable. But more unknown is the timetable for a release, and I predict it would take at least 3 years until we see it, maybe five.

Indy… easier to write, especially if you’re retiring the old relic hunter. SW… difficult to write because you’ve got to stick to the cannon, plus everybody whines when the story doesn’t live up to expectations. (I’m assuming you’re not including the cartoons.) Wasn’t there going to be a live-action SW TV series in the works?

I would give the MI4 a bit higher of a percent as they both have signed on for it from what I’ve read. And maybe I’m the only one, but I actually liked MI3. Better than MI2 personally. Sure Tom Cruise is an annoying actor. But Ving Rhames makes up for it as does the action involved. And if you are going into the MI movies thinking you’ll get award winning performances, then give me your ticket because you certainly don’t deserve it.

Are you joking? Is this like satire? I hope so…
Did you pull those numbers out of your ass?
