Probably one of my favorite topics in this world is the unknown actors and knowing their name.  Screenjunkies took a nice look at this niche and uncovered 15 of them that you probably know.  It’s just that you don’t know.  Nice work guys.

Trekkies Bash New Star Trek Film As ‘Fun, Watchable’

I’m convinced that The Onion should have its own cable channel, or at the very least, its own show. Who’s with me?

For All You Samus Fans: A Metroid Tribute

Published by under Video Games

williamdickeson put together this video as a tribute to the Metroid series.  It features all the games from all the systems – Game Boy, Game Cube, the original NES, Super NES, Game Boy Advance, and the Wii.  I’ve got to say, it’s pretty good, but I also have an unhealthy infatuation with Samus Aran.  If I don’t name my next dog Samus, then my daughter is going to be stuck with a pretty strange name.

Wolverine Officially Headed to Japan for Sequel

Published by under Movies,News

wolverine-japan.jpg

Now that Wolverine has made more money that the next top ten movies at the box office combined (true story), a sequel is obviously in the works. I would complain about how the movie sucked so they should just let the franchise die, but they’re reportedly actually using Frank Miller’s “Wolvie Fights Ninjas in Japan” story (I don’t remember the official saga title, but that about sums it up).

The story is one of Wolverine’s greatest adventures, and if done correctly, could make a thoroughly awesome movie. That is, if they follow these simple steps:

- Fox needs to butt out. Don’t go changing thing since your company wouldn’t know a good movie if it stuck a claw down your throat.

- Get rid of Gavin Hood and all the writers from Origins. I had few problems with the acting of the film, so logic dictates that it was everyone else that made it so god-awful.

- Less mutants, more story. Do not feel the need to add in more characters with fun powers to the story than are already present. Wolverine fighting ninjas will be good enough for anyone.

- Increase the special effects budget. Lord knows you now have enough money to make Wolverine’s claws look like they’re not from an Xbox game.

- Unleash the beast. Remember Wolverine has razor sharp claws that should be used for more than cutting kitchen sinks. We. Need. Blood. Your movie will still make money, I promise.

Am I forgetting anything? This project has potential, I just don’t want to see them **** it up like they did this one.

I Hate When Pitt Flaunts His Good Looks in My Face

Published by under Movies

Bastard Basterd or not, it’s so unfair that Brad Pitt can grow a ridiculous mustache like the one he has in the poster above and women will still find him ridiculously attractive.  I grew a mustache once and all it got me was a visit from Chris Hansen.  Pitt gets to bang Angelina Jolie and I’m not allowed within 1000 feet of an elementary school.  Screw you, God.

20 Undeniably Awesome Mustaches in Movies

Published by under Movies

Movie Mustaches

I wouldn’t go as far as to say that mustaches are making a comeback.   I don’t think we’ll ever have the amazing ‘staches that we did back in the 70s and 80s.   However, I will say that it seems mustaches have been popping up back and forth in Hollywood over the last 5 years or so.

There’s something very special about a well defined mustache in a movie don’t you agree?  In a way a mustache is like a prop.  It tells you things about the character and makes you believe more about him than only his dialogue will allow.

It’s also quite badass when someone can grow a ‘stache like some of these guys can.  Whether it’s real or fake, here are 20 undeniably awesome mustaches in movies.

The Top Eight Reasons to Hire a Doll from the Dollhouse

Published by under Lists,Television

Dollhouse is about to wrap this Friday, and it’s going to take nothing short of a miracle to keep in on the air for another go-round. But even if it dies after one lonely season, the show has raised a lot of interesting concepts about scientific technology that we may see within our lifetimes, and the moral implications it brings.

What would you do with a human that you could program to be anything at all that you wanted? I took a look at eight real life reasons to seriously consider hiring a doll.

Searching for a Silver Lining: Four Things I Liked About X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Published by under Movies,Reviews

 x-men-origins-wolverine-2.jpg

After reading dozens of horrible reviews and hearing from people how awful the new Wolverine movie is, I decided I should see for myself just how bad it could be.  Wow.  I was on board for the first twenty minutes or so, but things quickly deteriorated into a total disaster.  Make no mistake, this was an unbelievably awful movie; I think Paul’s rating of two out of five stars was far too generous.  Anyway, everyone else has already shredded the movie, and there’s enough negativity out there as it is, so I decided to find some things I liked about Wolverine.  I originally intended to write about five things I liked about this movie, but in all honesty, I couldn’t even think of that many.  Instead, keep reading to find out the four things I liked about X-Men Origins: Wolverine.  Spoilers, obviously.

The Morning Link: Six People Who Secretly Ruled The World

Olympia

Hey, remember that Dick Cheney guy? You know, the shadowy old man lurking behind George W. Bush and tugging on the strings that jerkily moved Bush’s limbs? He still turns up on Fox News sometimes?

Well, it turns out that history is full of those guys, the power behind the power whose names don’t come up in history class, but who were happy to change history from the shadows.
